Slightly less absurd than its predecessor, there's a somewhat intelligible plot this time. The mechanics are, while not complex by any means, more interesting and varied with even some possibilities to create interesting strategies as now the unique abilities the characters have are actually incredibly useful for the most part and equipment is more than just differing stat boosts.
As with Hylics 1 tho, don't buy this if you're looking for a mechanically complex or narratively driven tbrpg, the selling point here are the beautiful and absurd art, world, dialogues and narrative you'll find.

Short and weird little game, don't expect deep mechanics or a long game going in, this is something you play if you want the absurd experience few pieces of art can give.

Would just like to point out that Orbo's Odyssey is one of the highest rated games on steam, hell might be the highest atm for all I know, 99% positive, just incredible and very deserved.

Game's getting review bombed because a company that's involved in some controversy I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about did consulting work on this game, it's absurd how some people will do ♥♥♥♥ like this for such menial and tangential reasons, if you wanna see actually informative negative reviews just go look for older ones.
Anyways game's great, fantastic atmosphere, fun movement, got a bit lost on where to go at points tho.

I wanted to love this game as the original was one of my favourites but I can't, especially not to anyone looking for more Blasphemous, this ain't it.
The careful and deliberate level design and enemy placement of the first game is gone, enemies feel scattered around just to have them in mostly uninspired maps. This is worsened, and I assume was also caused by on the deign stage, by the fact you have all your generic metroidvania mobility options, such as double jumps, very early into the game. Whatever challenge might be there during exploration you can just skip by jumping over everything, hell even if you are hit, enemy damage is incredibly low with few exceptions and being hit in the air doesn't even flinch you anymore.
The danger and thus need to understand your mechanics, the level structure and the enemy's abilities is completely gone.
Now one thing that many complained about was the instakilling traps and I acknowledge being in the minority for liking them but not only were they removed, it's just much harder to even fall into them with the new movement options and there's checkpoints absolutely everywhere. There's no tension around failing at platforming, the consequences are basically nonexistant and there's no difficult platforming anymore.
Finally the bosses... they're piss easy, a lot of them you can facetank trough for almost the entire fight, they deal really low damage, have very predictable easy to dodge attacks and leave giant windows of opportunities to just bash them.

Most of these issues cannot be fixed by releasing dlcs, I hope if NG+ comes that at least manages to offer enough of a challenge to make me have to think about what i'm doing, what build i'm using, how to dodge and when to attack but that is not the case at the moment.

In the end, if you want an ok metroidvania with incredible art, Blasphemous 2 is here for you but I imagine most people here came from the first game, this is a relatively generic metroidvania that has nothing that made the first special outside the gorgeous art, at least that's still there.

Fantastic little game

Huh, didn't expect this game to be so twisted. My Hackerblood was pumping all troughout.

Very cool lil puzzle game, figuring out languages brings quite unique mechanics to the genre, especially pattern recognition.
The only criticism I have is that it really falls off in chapter 5, the language there has very unique characteristics to it but you only actually figure out 3 words of it, the rest is all auto-completed by just doing some very easy puzzles where you match words in the languages you've already translated.

Really disappointing to go from Eye to this, half the time the game didn't even register my inputs to aim or shoot and even if that was fixed, which it won't after this long, it's just a mediocre looter shooter at best.
