Really original metroidvania which, while relatively simple compared to many others, offers a completely unique experience with some fantastic exploration and some extra game modes if you want a bit more.

Surprisingly short but absolutely fantastic story driven experience with some really interesting metagame elements.

Very peculiar Metroidvania, while others tend to focus on the enemy and boss encounters this game is much more impressive in the platforming challenges, having more movement mechanics than 2 average metroidvanias combined.
Additionally it gives you a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of freedom for order of exploration, and the mechanics you choose to use to explore, as both spells and relics often also function as movement options.

So yeah, if you're looking for a metroidvania that, while mediocre insofar as bosses go, is absolutely wild and open for exploration and platforming challenges, you better damn buy this.

Amazing Episode 1, looking forward to full release which has, sadly, been delayed.

Also no, the game's not abandonware, the devs give out very detailed updates every 2 weeks and most negative reviews just seem people who are really salty the full release got delayed.

Now i want to state that it is clear the team has a lot of passion for what they're doing and some good talent as well but I cannot bring myself to recommend this game because of the amount of glitches and lack of QOL features.
I could even forgive the textures just deciding to only load at the minimum setting when I enter a new area, the physics glitches, the tedium of breaking boxes that are so short you need to be right next to them to hit them, the janky hitboxes certain enemies have, the overly common lagspikes but when the game just decided to make my save not load, that's too far.

I'll be keeping an eye on the studio as there's some clear potential here but this wasn't it, especially not for such a high price.

TLDR Buy this on sale if you want a short slower paced retro shooter with quite great looking levels.

For starters i absolutely do not think you should buy this game for full price, however at the sale price it's at currently, about 3€ it is definitely worth it.
Now i do not mean that statement to detract from the game's quality whatsoever, the levels are beautifully done and have a very unique look to them, the combat itself is quite different from what we have come to expect from the modern wave of boomer shooters, it is however very short and the enemy variety very lacking.

Let's get to the elephant in the room, this game has 6 levels and a total of 5 enemies + 1 boss, with one of those enemies being about as forgettable as you can get, that being the scorpion spiders which are an annoyance at best.
Of the other enemies visually 3 of them look about the same.

The weapons while not bad often feel like they lack punch, the rifle is not particularly powerful or accurate, the shotgun while powerful will not kill anything more than 3m away from you, the gatling gun takes too long to spin up to be even usable without preparation, the rocket launcher's shots travel very slowly but it still ends up being one of the best guns in the game and the railgun while powerful and accurate is only found near the end of the game.

Finally got back to this game after years, all in all, not scary in the least, puzzles range from easy to unintelligible, the back and forth to collect items is tedious and the one chase in the game is just awful, at one point during it you even get slowed by a cutscene making you get caught for certain if enemies weren't really damn far.
Also in the final area i just had an awful framerate for seemingly no reason.

Great game, very strong foundation and writing but sadly short.
I am hopeful for the future however because without any major change what already exists here could be used for a much grander and longer project.
