So after trying to play, forget it. I like a challenge but this is just dumb how stuff has to be done. Cant fight when crouched, to craft things have to be on the ground and in 100% durability or u cant use em, trying to figure out what things require what to craft is a headache in a half. U can repair ur clothes but not to full after taking maybe 2 hits. If u enjoy millions of details then def go for it but I wanna have fun playing a game and imo, this is a job to play. No knock on those who love this sort of game but it needs alot of work if you want to get new players as it it is just to much of a challenge or chore for someone who doesn't understand the game fully since they are new.

I do want to be clear, I love survival style games and learning the ropes of them. If you check my games you will see that I do play plenty of them so I have a decent understanding of what is required from these sort of games. Maybe down the road I'll check it out again as I really wanted to like this game but as stated before, right now its simply a no-go

Hello there!
We're sorry about your issues with the game.
Admittedly, SCUM has a steep learning curves and we released a LOT of features/changes throughout the years.
I assume you're talking about melee combat, because you can fire weapons from the crouched or prone position.

Also, you can craft from items that are in your inventory, that they don't have to be on the floor, you just have to have them on you or around you and have a high enough skill level to craft them.

You can repair your clothes to 100% if the durability of the clothing item is 21% or higher, below that would mean that you could repair a nearly completely ripped shirt/jacket/pants etc. That wouldn't be very realistic, so this was a conscious game design decision to limit repair on items below 21% to 50%, based on player feedback.

Having said that, I do understand where you're coming from. We are still in early access so a lot of rebalancing will still happen until we reach the inevitable 1.0 release. Also, the game tutorial will be complete by that time and should provide a more user friendly experience.
Feel free to go to the discussions page on steam -> Suggestions -> open a new ticket, we would love to hear you suggestions.
We hope you'll revisit the game again and perhaps change your mind.
Have a good one!

Hey thx for reaching out to me about the review, that is a huge thing for me so props for being involved in the community. I do understand this is an EA game and will need checks & balances so I do have hope. I will keep an eye on the game as I really do what to play it but in a bit more of a balanced way. The idea of what the game is going for is something I have a huge interest in. Hopefully with more time to develop it will become a bit more "starter" player friendly and understandable to play. Don't get me wrong, once ya get past that newish player start let your hearts go nuts with how hard it can get. Just not scaring away new players with extreme difficulty to start would be very helpful. I do want to include that I did watch a few different videos as well as started with a single player game so the issues I had were solely coming from a PVE aspect as well.

Thx again for reaching out!

As much as I really wanted to enjoy this, all I did was sit for 2 -3 hrs trying to just get the controls to work. Its so wonky to play, even with a controller (X-bone) that I just said forget it. I can't really say much anything else as all I did was get annoyed by the controls instead of actually playing the game.

Does as it says, allows the ability to check different stats as well as OC. No major issues that I have run into.

Edit - Read updated review info at bottom

Overall seems like the game "could" be very good. Minor FPS dips here and there but not a real issue and I def don't have the highest specs. I run at 1080p with mainly high settings. I decided to keep settings alittle lower as it is a newer game (for PC) and did expect some issues. The first couple hours of gameplay went fairly smooth and enjoyable. The more I got into it tho the more it seem to start crashing. Graphics are stunning, gameplay is excellent, audio is spot on, combat is fun and engaging however this means very little when you are unable to actually play the game.

So in the end as of 8/9/20 I would def say to hold off on getting the game unless you are fine with crashing and having to revert saves because you can only save at certain times. Once they can get the crashes fixed then that is a whole new book. Without the crashing issues this is then a def buy. Here's to hoping they get the issues fixed sooner than later.

Once fixed I'll come back and adjust the review as needed.

EDIT - Wanted to add that most of the crashes seem to hit during cutscenes.

Edit 2 - While there still seems to be some issues with the game overall it does seem to have gotten abit better with the couple small patches they have pushed out. While we all would like the game to be perfect it will simply take some time to get all the bugs worked out. I myself am now able to play at least a few hours at a time without much in the way of crashing. As stated before the only issue with the game I had was the crashing which seems to, for the most part, have been resolved, at least for me. I know others are still having issues so I can't say regarding them so this is just my take on it. Long as they keep pushing the updates and making it run better then by all means its a good buy. As it stands for me I feel I have gotten a fairly good product now.

Haven't played a whole lot at this point but what I have has been fairly fun. Controls can be a bit wonky at first but other than that no major complaints. For me it's a very relaxing Sim style game and is nice to play when I just want to play something less intense.

Just one of them games ya can't stop playing it seems. The game itself is fun but once ya get to a server that has mods it only gets better. So many things that can be tweaked to adjust the game in some way or another. I like that it feels like a "real" survival style game vs just a "kill zombies" style. Building, PvP, researching, crafting, Mods...just so much to this game at this point. I can only imagine what it will be when it's fully released.
