Early Access Review
Peripeteia, initially, had my full support and love from the get go. From a niche project that I found with a tight knit community supporting it, I was happy to be able to play the demo on loop for hours on end.

From it's environments, it's mechanics, and it's grit, I fell in love with Marie, even willing to look over some of the more crude language used in the game since I knew culturally it was normal for them, so there was no real need to fight to have them change their points of view. It was fine letting it be and enjoying the game as a true, gritty cyberpunk game.

However, after recent events and stances from one of the devs of the game, I cannot recommend this game to anyone, as of late. His conspiratorial view of depicting Queerness in fan art as "an infection that needs to be quelled before it starts" is entirely unacceptable. Before you roll your eyes and call me 'woke' for this point of view, it is not intrinsically their homophobia that is the problem at hand.

The entire issue stems from this take being heavily anti-artist. Gatekeeping people from making certain styles of art is not entirely a bad thing. Sometimes it's necessary to keep deeply evil people out of your game's community. However, just because art is queer does not make it an infection. In fact, this whole genre is brought to life by trans and queer folk. The breakcore used in game is also taken from trans artists. Most of the music in the game is freeware as was revealed to me from one of the developers. You CANNOT be conspiratorial towards queer folk and use music from a genre pioneered by them. You provide no stable ground for your community to stand on.

It will not happen, but please, remove Ouroboros from your dev team immediately. Your game will flourish the moment you can replace them.

For now, this review will remain negative, and I hope someday that I can change that.
