I don't feel the need to write an in-depth review about Phasmo, as there are many out there (tl;dr very good game, buy it if able). Rather, I thought I'd give everyone a very important reminder regarding indie titles.

If nothing else, this game proves that the argument of "it was a small dev team, limited budget, it just needs a bit more time" is completely invalid.

One person made this, and now it has 330,000 reviews on Steam, 97% of which are positive... not to mention how good of a deal just $13.99 is for the amount of fun and content you receive in return.

There are a lot more indie games releasing in such polished conditions with fun gameplay loops; and they're just a fraction of the price of broken, messy, and awful AAA game releases, which have even increased in price from $60 to $70 MSRP as of recent.

Phasmophobia, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Valheim, Cuphead, and Celeste are only a few indie games that provide insane value for their price.

THERE IS A REASON talented developers are leaving big publishers like Activision, EA, Ubisoft, etcetera and are starting their own dev teams. The indie game side of the industry is at it's peak as of right now, and it's only going to get better.

SUPPORT indie developers, WISHLIST their games if you find them interesting (wishlisting helps a TON for indies, because they then have data/numbers to show investors people are genuinely interested in the project).

Good game. Only catch is the playerbase as of now... but I'm almost positive that'll change as more people grow aware of Due Process. Give it a try.

DayZ and Tarkov decided to have intercourse and this is what popped out. Take that as you will.

As you can see, I don't have many hours played; but I think I've played enough to generate an early opinion on the game... and there is so much potential here. So much. There are definitely some things holding the game back, but under all of that is something very special.

Some things "holding the game back", in my opinion (and some others' as well), would be:

- No vehicles or any way to traverse the map any faster than running.
/ Vehicles are on the Deadside roadmap, planned for 2022. There's many things Bad
Pixel need to sort out first (mainly server structure, stability/netcode).

- "Low" playerbase, SOMETIMES (depending on the definition of low to you).
/ Though I've never struggled to find a server to play on (NA East), I don't doubt that
some people have had some troubles, particularly outside of the US/high-pop parts of
the EU.
/ For reference, SteamCharts shows Deadside's AVG concurrent players to stay at
around ~600 when there hasn't been an update for a bit, and roughly ~1,000 when the
hype resurfaces.

- Slow update pacing/consistency.
/ Update pacing & communication consistency has gotten insanely better as of late,
and I suspect that has something to do with the dev team (Bad Pixel) being acquired
by publisher TinyBuild, who are known to be quite the indie game publisher (Hello
Neighbor, Graveyard Keeper, SpeedRunners, and Hellpoint to be their most notable
titles as of late).

Despite the things I stated above, the game is very good, and there's no need to worry about things such as how the game is in Early Access. $20 (and even $30 for the supporter edition) is definitely a fair price for the content and fun you receive in return.

NOTE: As for all server-browser based games like Deadside, I recommend joining a non-official server. This way, there are general rules people have to follow (no safe zone camping, for example) & admins enforcing them; and there are also community discords to interact. As for the community: in my experiences, everybody has been extremely kind and welcoming. Almost every server I've joined, I get someone asking if I'm new, giving me tips/a guide to the game, and in some instances even offering me some amazing loot (weapons, armour, etc).

TL;DR: Good game with a good, welcoming community and good devs. Lots of potential and only going to get better throughout 2022 and beyond. Well worth the price, especially if you enjoy games like this.

Wow.
This is what R6 should have always been.

This game is damn good. If you're looking around for Zero Hour information, you most likely are searching for a tactical shooter. This isn't another one of those cop-out "tactical shooters" with awful gameplay, gunplay, animations, etc. - trust me. The devs are working very hard and continue to push out consistent bug patches & big-title updates. ZH's playerbase is healthier than ever before, averaging a ~1.5k concurrent playercount (via SteamCharts).

Some of the best, if not the best, CQB engagements I've ever seen in a video game. SFX is a little rough around the edges (but still GOOD... if you're worried about that, the devs continue to tweak sounds & are improving SFX overall in the next title update in ~August).

Best part? It's around $30 cheaper than it should be MSRP. Jeez, I'm not complaining at all. Whether on sale or not, this is an amazing pickup . You won't regret it.

Play it for yourself, don't let reviewers at companies like IGN sway your opinion - we should know this by now.

Good, fun game with a good gameplay loop & mechanics. They've improved it massively since it's released, as well. You have up to 2 hours & 2 weeks w/ the game where you can always refund. Try it out.
