Loved the game back when I used to play it, not that it's about to shut down really puts stuff into perspective. Have some super fond memories, thanks for the fun.

I really wanted to like this game, I really did. I'm in love with darkest dungeon so I was looking for a similar game and ended up on vambrace: cold soul.

The game itself plays similarly to darkest dungeon with two key differences: polish and fairness. Where darkest dungeon punishes you for wrong moves and risky actions (though I should mention luck is also a part of the game but I believe it is done more tastefully) vambrace punishes you for its own awful design. Anywhere from locking the player out of quests for no reason except to be "challenging" to losing your items for the sake of difficulty in ways that make no sense (when a character dies you lose not only the character but also the artifact they were equipped with, which makes no sense I could understand if I lose the fight entirely sure but if I won the fight where has my artifact gone into the ether? Why can I not just pick it back up?).

Overall I can tell there was love put into the game but sadly that wasn't enough for me to enjoy it and look past its flaws, the game has charm but that's about it, I can't recommend this to anyone unless you can somehow look past the at best questionable game design to enjoy something similar yet inferior to darkest dungeon.

Who knows I may come back later and give it another shot but for now it's a 4/10 at best.

Characters are bland, story is uninteresting and some of the gameplay choices I simply don't understand. Might try to finish it later but for now I'm good.

Othercide was surprisingly more fun than I anticipated. I decided to buy it because of its unique aesthetic and vibe but the xcom like turn based strategy really got me hooked and the story was also super engaging I enjoyed every bit of it even though it was quite short. The music for some of the bosses was also fantastic in my opinion.

Overall I had a lot of fun with Othercide I highly recommend it if you're into turn based games.
