Claude Monet, born as Oscar-Claude Monet on November 14 , 1840 in Paris and died on December 5, 1926 in Giverny, is a French painter and one of the founders of Impressionism.

He began his career as an artist by making portraits for the notables of the city of Le Havre. In 1859, he left for Paris to try his luck on the advice of Eugène Boudin. Back in France in 1871, he took part in thefirst exhibition of future impressionists, in 1874.
