TL;DR - Good on sale, strong start & weak finish. Read more below for my ramblings.

Usually when reviews for games become mixed, then I do my best to try and look & play it with an unbiased and open mind. However, and as much as it pains me to say this due to the art being absolutely charming and beautiful especially for pix-elated art that this game has a strong start and a weak, absolutely abysmal finish.

The story hooks you right in if you like detective/Noir themes and mystery, but then implements a questionable sci-fi plot twist that would've perhaps suited a different game. I would've been more accepting if the game had multiple endings due to the dialogue and choices you made throughout the game (if the game was longer than just a couple of hours.)

Although the ending was weak, if you can manage to ignore it's disappointing conclusion then it's a superb short experience of something that could've been exceptional but missed it's mark. I still recommend it for the positives but getting it on a sale would influence your experience to decide if it was good enough for the price as it influenced mine.

I got a severe case of arthritis in my right hand now because of this.

Victory has never felt so painful.

If "A short hike" had a spiritual successor~. I had a blast playing it from start to finish.
Price might be a bit steep for some, especially when you can 100% it in 4~ hours or so.

Cute lil gator game, 10/10

PROS
+ Fun Puzzles that never go beyond too complex or long

+ Cute art style and graphics are pleasing

+ World is linear and straight forward to navigatenot counting optional Wanderer's chests

+ Named Characters are memorable

+ Relatively easy to 100% for achievements if that's your thing

Cons
- Would've been nice if named characters had their own voices for their lines, but that's just personal preference

-No chapter selection, only puzzle selection after beating the game, so if youmissed any of the Wanderer's chests, tough luck

-Occasional slight bugs that in no way broke my play through, just minor things such as the boat oar not loading in an animation, or climbing up and down a ladder with WASD controls and it being somewhat iffy

-Music could've been more memorable for such a game like this, but more of just my personal preference

Streamed on discord with friends, what was supposed to be a small and fun joke turned out to have story arcs, twists and plot developments and an overarching story with every new duck that came on by.

Emotions were high, and with the final duck came an end to the glorious saga of my personalised experience with this Duck game.

Jokes aside, I really enjoyed the story telling and the way they went about the "choices matter" genre. They still matter, but you don't feel punished in the same sense and can go back any time to try something else out instead.

Fun times and well worth the price in my opinion.

Genuinely one of my favourite games I have played this year as of this review in 2022.

-Good music, go find those vinyl's. They're worth the time spent.

-Combat is relatively easy on Normal Difficulty yet still fun throughout most of the game.

-Story and lore is interesting, the horror/mystery elements are played very well, the jump scares (Agent Rainbow) are well placed and don't feel gimmicky.

-You get to pet a talking cat, very cute GOTY 10/10

-Most if not all puzzles are designed in an interesting way.

-Unable to set your own save points, having to rely on autosaves kinda sucked and made it impossible to revisit certain levels/sections in case you missed any achievements.

-Although I have a rather decent setup, I did have to lower graphic settings for a game that doesn't feel like it required much due to some frame stuttering and drops.

-Some invisible walls exist in a few levels which was rather jarring and took me out of the experience which could have been avoided with some different model geometry perhaps.

Workshop maps + official maps = endless content, tons of creative and neat puzzles, and playing with friends that get tilted from my zany stupidity.

- 10/10 , will collect all the tokens again.

I have sunk so much time into getting the Alien Remover achievement. My life is complete.

10/10 I would shift, space, shift again

I refused to change my high dpi (1,500) and proceeded to stubbornly solve every puzzle as if I was having a seizure while trying to draw lines. Don't even get me started on the snek game. It was all worth it for that final reveal at the end.

10/10 Would get carpal tunnel syndrome again.
