Solid entry into the souls-like genre. Visuals and character design were very pretty and combat was chunky and powerful. Soundtrack absolutely amped up a lot of the main story boss fights.

While there are only 3 weapon archetypes, the skill tree & Phantom Form keeps combat interesting while weapon & armor transmogs keep the visuals interesting as well without having to sacrifice armor/weapon set bonuses. A lot of hidden collectibles can keep you pretty consistently engaged as well.

As far as difficulty goes, it's probably one of the easier souls-likes in my opinion. I played on Normal without any summons and only died a handful of times across all the boss fights & never in any running sections outside of falling off a cliff/into water. Expert/Hardcore may up the difficulty to being closer to the standard of a souls game. There's also a lot of QoL features that reduce punishment. Items that allow you to retrieve your Lacrima (this game's souls/runes) without having to physically collect it, giving you additional Lacrima when you lose a boss fight & the lost Lacrima being outside the arena instead of stuck inside the boss fight, and being able to respec your skill points for free at any time. All of these QoL features were really nice, but they do reduce difficulty a little imo, if that's something you care about. Even with the game overall being on the easier side it was still really fun.

For story, it wasn't particularly special imo, but I'm never really playing these types of games for the story anyway. Maybe the characters, but not usually the story. That being said, the story was at least entertaining enough to keep me paying attention and not skipping dialogue or cutscenes, and it had a few nice twists throughout as well. The characters were enjoyable and well voiced.

Overall, it's a fun game and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. I'd probably give it somewhere around 8.5/10. Definitely recommended if you're a fan of the genre.

Warning: There's a lot of spiders in this game... but there is an arachnophobia setting.

Truly an unforgettable experience. Fantastic start to finish. Had me going through every stage of grief and then some. I am far too attached to these characters now, my mental health be damned. Don't read too many reviews, as I believe this game is best experienced knowing nothing about it.

Clocking out from my 9-5 to clock in to my 5-9. Better than quite a few simulator games that would normally be $15-$20, but it's free! Weekly updates with substance, addicting gameplay loop with consistent ability to upgrade, customizable difficulty, and you can play with your family, friends, or strangers. Plus, you can beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of any and everyone with a broom and throw your friends in click jail. DLC is also worth the $5 if you wanna support the dev and get a lot of customization. Massive recommend.

I bought this game since I usually like Digimon games and the reviews seemed stellar (94% positive as of writing). I still cannot for the life of me figure out how the reviews are so positive... The story and characters are bland at best and offensively bad at worst, with a lot of inconsistencies. This might not be the biggest flaw if 80% of the game wasn't focused around the story... As a disclaimer, I haven't finished the story in Cyber Sleuth (quit on Chapter 11, which I think is near the end) and haven't touched Hacker's Memory, but from what I've seen in other reviews, it doesn't seem to get much better...

The normal Digimon leveling and evolving grind is fine as usual, but manages to feel a lot less satisfying than in other Digimon games I've played. The graphics were also pretty subpar in a lot of areas, as it feels like most of the budget went towards the small handful of high quality cutscenes. I could go on and on about a lot of nitpicks, but I'll leave it here.

DO NOT BUY! I bought at 40% off and still feel ripped off.
