There's something mesmerizing about traveling multiple hundreds times the speed of light with full flight controls. Lack of time-dilation notwithstanding, this game manages to reel me back in over the years despite its many flaws. You have to be very self-motivated and love technical details. Combat will stress your multitasking abilities as you manage multiple sub-systems to maintain a razor's edge over your foes.

Outer Wilds will forever hold a special place in my thought cabinet. This game captured my curiosity which evolved into wanderlust, cosmic horror, existential dread, and tears of joy. Few games have made me ugly cry, and I will gladly admit that this is one of them.

If you're considering playing Outer Wilds, I recommend going in with as little information as possible and try not to get spoiled.

EDIT: Sony BTFO good game stays good

Forcing the PSN account requirement post launch for "safety and security" is laughable. It's not that I do not want to take a couple minutes to make an account, it's that I simply don't agree with Sony's terms of service. And since the PSN account linking was optional when I first launched it, I am now outside of the standard refund window. Diabolical move if I'm being honest.

No other game has captured that sense of 'player expression' for me quite like Baldur's Gate 3. Using slightly tweaked DnD 5e rules, it really does give you the freedom to go about solving problems in any way you see fit. The amount of detail and care put into this game's development stuns me, even on my third playthrough I'm still finding new items, conversations, and hidden moments. It's like every possible scenario has been accounted for in gameplay, dialogue, and cutscenes.

Want to take out a boss by luring them onto a rickety old bridge and then shooting at its supports from afar? Sure.

Would you rather agree with that same aforementioned boss to raid a bunch of innocent refugees, but then betray the boss with dozens of traps when they arrive? Go for it.

How about going ahead with the raid, sleeping with the boss afterwards, and then cutting their throat once they've passed out from the snu snu? All equally viable solutions to a single story element.

Factorio has been so stimulating to my brain. The sandbox it gives you is free form; you end up solving problems that either you didn't realize were there or problems that you created for yourself early in a playthrough. At the time of writing this I have 342 hours played and I'm sure I'll have more to come.

The highest fidelity game I've ever played. It hits a great balance between realism and gameplay in regards to its gun mechanics. The story and atmosphere are fantastic, striking fear and dread into me on several occasions.

Though if you have arachnophobia, I wish you the best of luck.

Perfect PC port. Iron Galaxy did a fantastic job adding in modern options like resolution, AA, bloom, turning OFF motion blur, uncapping FPS. At release, there were reports about one level in Spyro 1 breaking if you played with an uncapped frame rate but I got through all of Spyro 1 without having to cap my frame rate.

Completely changed the way VR feels for me. I use the feet tracking option with two vive trackers. With some fine tuning, walking around in VR feels amazing

When you have a vague interest in military aircraft and want to dive deeper...

When you pick up a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and pour through the Harry Potter novel that is the A-10C manual...

When you fall in love with an aircraft so much that you buy a scale model kit and learn how to airbrush...

When you can actually claim that you've memorized the real start-up procedure of a close air support legend...

When the wife is concerned that your dinner table talk should not involve things such as the pros and cons of different aircraft weapon systems...

When your ringtone on your phone is BRRRRRRRRRRRRRT

You know that a game has had an impact on you.

The programming in this module is horrendus and frequently likes to think you're off altitude and speed targets.

FE instructs you to maintain 200 knots, yells at you when you're at exactly 200 knots, now you fall in the qualified minus (Q-) rating for the entire mission from that one error.

Worst of all, in the Instrument Navigation mission, the FE instructs you to go to a set of coordinates at 12,000 feet. With my properly adjusted QFE, I'm at exactly 12,000 feet when I arrive on time, and it says that I'm off altitude. That automatically gives me an unqualified (U) rating. This mission is actually a wall. I've spent hours trying to get past it and I've decided that it's no longer worth my time.

Forget about trying to get a perfect qualified (Q) rating on every aspect of most missions.
