Pavlov walked so VAIL could run. VAIL took the great feeling gunplay/gun handling of Pavlov, and dialled it to 11. They stayed in early access until they knew their game was ready to ship. They consulted competitive/top-level VAIL, Pavlov and other VR FPS players, along with casual players, and actually listened to feedback. Guns are hugely interactable, like the selector switches being able to be physically grabbed with your off hand. The same can be done with the flip magnifiers. VAIL was fully designed with feature parity, gameplay parity, and crossplay in mind, so PC and Quest players can compete with one another.

VAIL plays faster than Pavlov, while remaining tactical feeling, has more 1st party modes than Pavlov, has a levelling system with multiple prestiges, stat tracking, competitive play (coming soon), a social hub (with 1v1 duels, a market to preview gear, a zero gravity arena, and an elevator that will take you to and from the room you spawn into when you boot up the game seamlessly, which will be made functional in a future update <--SPECULATION, UNCONFIRMED).

VAIL is the only FPS I have played, flatscreen or VR that has actually made me switch between SMGs and full caliber rifles depending on the size of the map. There is a distinct damage and accuracy falloff for the APC-9 compared to the M4.

You are doing yourself a huge disservice by not buying VAIL next time it's on sale.

tl;dr: VAIL is as groundbreaking for VR as Halo was for flatscreen shooters.

P.S. I have a 100+ hours on Quest. I play on there almost exclusively.

Sony now requires a Playstation account to play Helldivers. This was not the case at launch. Many countries can not create a Playstation account, and Sony has started banning players that create accounts that reside in these countries.

Broken af, controllers are almost a foot away from the in-game hands, no settings button bound, gripping is goofed.

Not a fun time. Will update this review to positive when the devs fix their game.

EDIT2: I'm a man of my word, so this review has been changed to positive. Keep the rest as striked text for context.

EDIT: The dev changed the store page description to make me look like the scummy one. Original description: https://archive.is/rVYrC

I have been looking forward to this game for a while now. So I purchased it, booted up OBS, with the intent of bringing some attention to this new title.

However, one feature completely kills this game.

I'm unsure about other platforms, but the gripping and hand location is godawful. I doubt there is a single VR title that has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up hand location for Index (and possibly other HMDs) more that this.

These major oversights in Forest Farm's development makes the game completely unplayable. As such, I suggest you hold off on buying this for the time being.

Video Summary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAQjCdID9dc

“Drop In” was released during a “content drought” for VR. I can see the game growing by a huge amount in the coming weeks due to corona and a lack of previously stated content to play.

Pros:
* Easy and intuitive controls basically copy and pasted from Pavlov (at least on Index).
* Loads of weapons you’d expect from a VRFPS (AK-12, SCAR, MP7, P90, Deagle, grenades, baseball bats and likely more to come).
* Seated mode for our wheelchair-bound VR friends.
* Choice between male and female avatar in the lobby, with a hearty amount of choices for each.
* A variety of minigames in the lobby (street hockey, driving around, ping pong, mini golf, a shooting course (with leaderboards) and a shooting range).

Goofs (cons, but forgivable because of EA and limited dev time/oversights):
* P90 has a mag drop, and you can’t manually yank out the mag like you are supposed to.
* Ammo and guns take a long-ass time or don’t respawn at all.
* Cars have no reverse function. If you drive it into a corner, you’re screwed,
* Players are put into individual lobbies, and not pushed into “social hubs” with dozens of people. Not sure if this is intentional or just an oversight.
* Scoring issues with the shooting course.

I would definitely recommend "Drop In" to anyone, even if it was paid.

P.S. The game has a subreddit ran by myself, /r/dropin

Holy ♥♥♥♥, yes. Buy it.

The only true AAA(A) VR game so far. Unfathomable performance, no stutters/lag/fps drops what so ever, great looking (runs on Source 2).

BUY IT

Don't buy, they downgraded the graphics to CS 1.6 overnight to cater to Quest players and get that sweet sweet Daddy Oculus money.
