What an amazing game. The lore, the setting, the gunplay, its all done really well. You get to put yourself in the shoes of either a space wizard, space ninja, or space... barbarian(?) essentially. Lots of guns, lots of loot, lots of grinding (its a MMO what did you expect?). Now I will admit the new player experience is a little lackluster but the community is welcoming and you can easily find people willing to take you in and show you the ropes.

A great game if you like looter shooters. The loot flows freely enough that you don't feel stiffed if you die a bunch in a row and you can make a come back. But it also keeps feeling like the loot you get is exciting even dozens of hours in. Its like Tarkov lite and feels way less punishing while still having tense gunfights and fair AI.

Adding a lot of features to modernize the winning Monster Hunter formula, the game becomes much more accessible to new players while still maintaining the usual fun in a Monster Hunter game.

A couple of months ago I would have applauded this game as a fairly unique Battle Royale with classes, interesting weapons and a nice fantasy design that hadn't really been explored before. The tides have turned however and I am on the edge of uninstalling the game. The only reason that I don't is because I don't want to have to reinstall it if the small bit of faith im putting in them happens to pay off.

They have recently removed the classes that made the game unique, which is a huge blow to differentiating and making the game interesting. I understand that classes made the game harder to balance and with how the classes work, if you were playing a class that no one else played then half the loot the enemy dropped (class abilities and class legendary weapons) would have no use to you which could be a big disadvantage compared to players playing the more popular classes running into a lot of players that they could kill to loot.

They have also removed the solo and duo queues from the game altogether temporarily, forcing you to play in a squad of up to 6 players. However the caveat to this is that you can only have a party of 4. Meaning that you will have to have two randoms to flesh out a squad.

If they ever add back in the most basic of features like solo queues or something to keep their game unique from the rest of the many Battle Royales, I will likely be back and change to a positive review, but in the mean time the game is kind of a mess, so install at your own risk.

First of all I want to say that at its core The Culling is actually a fantastic Battle Royal game and I believe that is largely because of the focus on melee combay rather than it being about who gets the better gun and drop on the other player.

That being said the game is currently in a state where for many players including myself the ping has become increasingly high and causes the game to teleport, lag, and rubberband to an extent. In some games it would be acceptable at the level it is at now but in a fast paced battle royal game where melee combat has blocking mechanics and such even a 1/10 or 2/10 second lag can be a death sentence and makes the game largely unplayable or at the least unwinnable.

I love the game but at its current server state for many people I can not recommend this title at this point in time. When the lag gets fixed as it was before (I used to play with very low ping and no lag before the "Down Under" patch) I will gladly rewrite my review and change it to an outstanding recommendation.

A fast paced roguelike type game with increasing difficulty the longer you play. Do you stick around in a level to try and get mor items or rush through as fast as you can before things get too strong? Either way they game is incredibly fun and worth every penny.
