So the idea of this game is really great, but...

The game design in itself is just horrible, way more horrific than the "horror" aspect of this game.

To start this review off it's very unpleasant to play as it's all just one single jumpscare and the "boss monster" gets ridiculously difficult and constantly aggros players when close to ending the game. If you don't do a double sacrifice to end the game, say goodbye to your progress, unless you have multiple people. Designed for 4 players and seems to be 4 players only.

We have managed to win farmhouse on 2 players, but it is still very, very difficult and annoying. As when the boss aggros you after like 6 goats, you can't hold it back enough with the flashlight and you'll always end up getting knocked. So they give you a "weapon" that really is not even worth trying to use.

I really think it's bad game design to make a game difficult just by making it near impossible. It really kills the fun of this game.

listing the bad sides:
-VERY REPETITIVE
-Laggy / clunky gameplay
-Difficulty scales up WAY too steep on the normal mode.
-Flashlight is completely useless, as it seems to not stack when having multiple UV lights and the boss monster really doesn't care and will grab you before getting stunned.
-Second point to flashlight being useless -> after stun you'll have no charge left which means she'll just outrun you and grab you anyways even if you managed to get the stun.
-Only "horror" aspect is two jumpscare animations; which proven by the points above, you can't avoid.
-The amount of "babymonsters" gets ridiculous especially in asylum where you can't run around them. You have 0 flashlight left to defend yourself from the boss monster or the babymonsters.

POSITIVES:
-Fun to play for the first few times
-Genuinely challenging but taken WAY TOO FAR
-The jumpscares are great for the first few times or when they catch you off guard. Most of the time tho you're just there sitting, holding a useless UV light in your hand and waiting for your inevitable doom (This is not scary at all, just frustrating).

To conclude:
I do not recommend this game at the state it's in, the difficulty curve is way too ♥♥♥♥♥ to be enjoyable. Even when playing on normal, you will struggle A LOT unless you have a full 4 man team. A horror game which requires more strategy than CIV 5.

I don't know if I'm just absolute trash, but some weapons seem a little unbalanced or it's just that I'm not used to them.
Fun to play, grab it if it's on sale or something, get yourself a mate and it'll be really fun.

UPDATING THIS REVIEW!
Super fun and quite easy to get used to. I've had a lot of fun with this game and there have been many QoL updates to the game. Hitreg feels quite good these days and hitting shots really does feel it's all depending on your aim, rather than lag or server issues. New modes have been added, 3 player mode and the "solo-mishmash-kill-everyone-death-match-fast-paced-go-to-places"-mode (don't remember the name of it) Weapons seem to have been balanced and they feel to work as intended. Shotguns are great at close range, rifles feel a bit tacky at close ranges but that's a great way to balance them. Headshots are still instant kills which is great as you can have a pistol to go for the some-what long range fights and come out on top. Explosives and other throwable stuff feels useful and everything seems to have a somekind of purpose, (except the flashlight). Combat isn't some fortnite kinda jump all over the place crap and more of a "be a hunter, but still be a human with human limitations".
The playerbase seems awesome and the matchmaking might(?) have a skill based system that I personally have had nothing to complain about.

Pros:
-Great graphics and atmosphere
-Fun to play with a friend
-Challenging game so not just a walk in the park
-Usually fast paced
-Easy to get the hang of
-a lot to unlock
-Hitreg works
-Can play drunk and still do well
-Atmospheric and beautiflul

Cons:
-Might get repetitive sometimes

I gave up a relationship, studies, house, my everything. And what did I get? +80h of gameplay in a week and my life ruined. a full 5/7 would play again

This game was bought to me by my friend. It gave me hours of joy and enjoyment as the multiplayer is almost flawless and speed running the story is so much diferent than in other games. 8/10 very good game

Now after 2000 hours I am ready to give my honest review:

Pros:
- This game is very addictive, it gets better and better the more you learn and master.
- The matchmaking seems to be working fine, tho when you get to very high level the que times might get really long
- Micro DLC is completely optional. The best car (octane) is not locked behind a paywall and the DLC they roll out are not really that expensive compared to the hours of joy they give
- a Fun game with friends if u can get over the competetive aspect (skill difference will get on your nerves if u take it too serious)
- Can disable chat or set it to team only
- Support for this game is great and reporting people actually works

Cons:
- Servers, connection issues that always "get fixed" still keep happening
- Hitboxes and the physics sometimes act against anything you'd think/belive would be correct. (After 2k hours there's still bounces that no one can predict)
- Toxic communtiy (thank god for team only chat / disabled chat)

8/10 a great game, eSports ready, addictive and something you can always improve in.

Yea so I owned this game for a while and then few of my friends bought it too.
It was fun at first, we found guns, food, clothes.
Then I started to get bored and I thought can I handcuff my friend, so I did.
He got mad at me and shot me to the leg, I blew his brains to the wall as a revenge >:D
Then my other freind force feeded me a rotten potato and I died. 5/5 would handcuff my friends again! :)
