Whether you’re a casual doodler or professional illustrator, The Painter’s Playground is a fun experience for the artist in all of us.

The paints and tools can be limiting compared to simply running drawing software and using that to make things, but often times the game’s limitations do well to add to a no pressure environment. You’ll get rewarded for simply trying to make anything.

The game really shines with it’s online features though. You can sell you artwork to other players using a marketplace, and use that money to either buy other people’s work, or more tools to work with in your studio. Or you could send your artwork to a gallery where people can give it a thumbs up if they like it. It’s a great feeling when you see that someone else liked what you did enough to give you a little virtual tip or thumbs up.

The artwork that’s currently in the game’s online galleries covers all the bases from abstract MSpaint style doodles, to awe-inspiring masterpieces and everything in between.

If you’re an artist of any skill level, I’d say The Painter’s Playground is worth jumping into, as it’s a great way to get your creative gears working. If you’re not an artist at all, but still enjoy messing around in things like MSpaint or looking at other people’s work, then I’d also say you should give it a shot.

This is the kind of game where even after 11 hours of play time, I feel like I discover something new every run.

The feeling of mystery, urgency, and even a touch of horror keep me coming back to Scavenger SV-4 as I wonder what new story will play out this time.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good science fiction setting and story. There’s a lot to be discovered in this game, so I won’t spoil it for you. Dive into this one blind, and you’re definitely going to have your own story to tell soon after.

Wonderfully creative and well designed, through and through.
Kingsway's retro operating system styling is an oxymoron in the sense that it is both nostalgic, and innovative.
I love the attention to detail, with the humming of hard drives as you take actions, the way monster windows move around as if they were the monsters themselves, even the quests being written as if they were coming from an old spam email advertisement.

While playing around with the UI itself is fun enough, there's even a roguelike RPG in there that's really good too!

This is one of those games that, for $10, is something every fan of indie gems should have in their Steam account.

Cute, funny, varied and addicting!

There’s a lot going on in Pixel Shopkeeper, in fact, you’ll probably be a lot busier running a shop than you’d be if you were just adventuring all the time.

And unlike most fantasy games, the evil forces in Pixel Shopkeeper are truly evil, with their legends being based in reality. I speak, of course, of the dreaded student loan debt.

And just like real life, if you miss a payment for your student loan, you die and have to restart back to when you graduated.

But that’s okay, cause it’s pretty fun running a shop, gathering all the ingredients, and doing everything you can to milk those adventures of all their gold.

The developers seem very dedicated to working on the game after release, and the game even includes a survey taking NPC who comes by the shop every now and then and gives you a multiple-choice question on what new features you’d like to see in the game.

Balancing your loot-gathering skills, and how well you run your shop can be challenging at times, and just one missed payment means starting over, but all in all it's a fun experience, and one I recommend.

It’s a good game for short intervals. Lots of ways to customize the monster with passive abilities, and it’s fun to go stomping through the levels, chomping on all the little peoples and their crunchy bots.

The boss battles can get a bit tedious after you’ve gone through them a few times, but the game is certainly worth the asking price, and as an added bonus you get the soundtrack for free. Neat!

Heavy Bullets is a first person shooter roguelike that rewards perceptive and patient players with the sweet taste of victory. Armed with your trusty revolver and six bullets, you must fight your way through eight floors of a vibrantly colored and dangerous landscape, buying and finding small upgrades along the way. Each bullet you fire can be recovered and loaded back into your revolver, just make sure you remember to reload as the creatures you encounter are very quick about killing you. The music and sound design in Heavy Bullets is a definite highlight. The jungle ambiance of each room, the mechanical beeps of the turrets, the cries of vicious beasts that will hunt you down sound distinct and keep you immersed in the world of Heavy Bullets. Only by being observant and by checking each and every bush for snake will you reach your goal of resetting the mainframe on floor eight and receiving the reward of $5000 in Heavy Bullets. Good Luck!

Risk of Rain is one of the finest, if not THE finest example of a well done roguelike RPG. In Risk of Rain, a spaceship carrying packages that include military prototypes, ancient artifacts, and scientific experiments suddenly suffers a catastrophic failure forcing your character to use an escape pod to land on a uncharted and hostile planet. With each play though you can unlock new items and characters with unique properties to keep the game fresh and interesting. Risk of Rain even supports co-op, either online or locally so you don't have to travel alone. Risk of Rain is one my favorite games on steam, and is certainly worth your time. Will you escape this hostile planet and discover what happened to the ship, or will you just be another casualty?

Rogue Shooter is a quirky game that will have you swining shotgun flails as you kick various robots, aliens, and plants to the ground. You must fight your way through a hundred floors of a randomly generated spacestation full of colorful enemies whose only goal in life is to make sure you don't succede in whatever it is that you're trying to do. Rogue Shooter is not without it's flaws, the graphics are pretty basic, sound effects are nothing special, and a hundred floors doesn't seem so bad until it takes you an hour to get to floor twenty, but it's fast paced gameplay, off-beat humor, and variety in weapons makes up for it. You choose a class and some perks that you get more of as you level up and start blasting your way through each floor. Weapons degrade with use, but can be repaired and even upgraded in the safe rooms every fourth floor to maximize their damage. Rogue Shooter is a fun, slightly flawed, and humorous roguelike that will satisfy your need to shoot puppies at robots.

Teleglitch is a hardcore top down shooter roguelike that will put your skills, and sanity, to the test. Set on a planet owned by a military/science conglomerate where a terrible accident has caused AI controlled beings to go haywire, horrific monsters from other dimensions to appear, and the whole place to be rearranged randomly, you find yourself out of supplies and no longer able ot wait for rescue, you have to find the teleporter home and get off this nightmare planet. Teleglitch is one of the most difficult roguelikes out there, but also one of the most entertaining. From the crafting system to the hordes of monsters chasing you, Teleglitch will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try and try again to reach the end, but can one person truly conquer such impossible odds? Only one way to find out..

Magicite is a roguelike rpg-platformer that features co-op, a pretty pixel graphic style with very fluid animations, a deep crafting system, and a multitude of areas to battle various original monsters in. Magicite can be tough at first like most roguelike games, but learning about what you can do and craft, or what you can kill and what kills you is what makes these kind of games fun. Magicite is fun when playing solo, but is more enjoyable with friends so invite all your chums to some cavern crawling, platform jumping, giant ax-swinging fun!
