The engaging format of Telltale's The Walking Dead meets the immeasurably immersive Game of Thrones universe.

Microtransactions. The game's not free, the DLC certainly isn't cheap. There is no place in this model for further nickel and diming. 1000 hours in, I won't be putting any more money into Overkill's coffers until this is rectified to my satisfaction.

There's nothing wrong with free to play as a model for a game. There is a problem when there's a distinct lack of value. Having to perpetually pay to play any part of the game outside of the cripplingly limitted free bit is just not worth it. It's a shame too because it's a pretty good game, the spritual successor to the excellent Deer Hunter 2005 I was sure.

As far as the gameplay, it encourages stealth and punishes impatience. There are some quirks with the animal AI: I watched a doe run into a cliff wall for a long time. Another frustration was with the fact that even if you can hear an animal's call, it may be impossible to see, being outside the rendering range.

All in all, I wanted to like this game a lot but this particular instance of the free to play model is such a turn off and complete deal breaker.
