While the 60fps is mildly annoying, everything else is really good. The 3rd person aspect kind of hides the fact this is a MOBA, and in my opinion, makes this a lot more fun to play that your traditional MOBA. All the characters that I have played have felt well distinguished, but I can see that their are some meta characters already. Though, because this is my first time playing Gigantic I may just not know their counters well enough yet.

Early Review (Will be edited later)

So far I have enjoyed the game very much. I'd be lying if I was to say all the negative reviews weren't justified, but some people need to get past the title screen at least (to anyone with 0.3 hours on their review).

Anyways I'll just do what I like and don't like for certain aspects of the game as of 3.8 hours.

TLDR: A solid game so far with good combat once you get used to the stiff dodging and longer attack animations. World and story feel intriguing, but the characters (at least on the female story line) feel generic so far. Some of the VN parts would be better as cutscenes. The visuals are simply great and is the best I've seen in terms of a 3D anime style. Some repetitive level design and usage. While the PC port is very well optimized for 1080p, the lack of widescreen support and issues with keyboard mapping are a problem, I can only recommend you play with a controller.

Current Score: 8/10

OST: Good but can get repetitive.

Combat

Pros:
  • The combat looks good and for the most part feels fluid.
  • The upgrade tree is also pretty solid with not too many skills and simple to follow trees if you want to spec a certain way. I'm sure later in the game you can get most skills since it doesn't seem too difficult to level up so far.

Cons:
  • What ruins the fluidity of combat is dodging. Combat animations lock you in place so it can be really hard to pull off a dodge that doesn't even move you out of the way all that much.
  • By the 2 hour mark I was able to get used to how the combat felt and that helped me dodge a lot more and made the combat feel better. So I simply suggest you get good (⌐■_■). In all seriousness though, just try to get used to how it feels and it should help your over all experience. Upgraded skills improve it a lot too
Suggestions:
  • The combat early game seems easy, so I suggest you start with hard mode.
  • Get the recovery skill for when you get knocked down, this speeds up combat a lot.

Story

Pros:
  • So far the world seems the most interesting and very intriguing. It may the generic "Humanity faces barely known threat they've known for the longest time," but there definitely feels like there is more going on. Definitely gonna need to play longer to learn more.
  • Japanese dub sounds great, can't saying anything for the English one.
  • Good looking cutscenes

Cons:
  • Not a flat-out con for say, but doing the female story the characters have generic archetypes you'd see an anime. I'm not horribly against it and hopefully there's more to the characters later on, but as it stands early game they don't have much going on. I'm not sure if it's the case for the male version of the story line.
  • The visual novel method used in some parts just too much. The characters talking are the 3D models in portraits talking with a still image behind them. After a conversation moves on from the current image the camera moves to a new image and it just feels like when a movie has too many cuts in a short span of time. This especially the case they are trying to portray action with these VNs.
  • While that doesn't apply for all VN moments, where the "action" VNs are used would have just been better as cutscenes.

Graphics

Pros:
  • Honestly can't see how any can say this game looks bad unless they expecting anything other than anime. Besides some 2.5D fighting games, this probably the best 3D anime style I've seen.
  • World and characters look great
  • Combat attacks looks great and are flashy, so personally I think they look good.

Cons:
  • Just what I mentioned about the VN parts of the story.

World

Pros:
  • Looks very good visually
  • The number of NPCs it helps the city segments feel alive, but only a few walk around. So there's enough to where if feels populated and somewhat alive, but static at the same time.
  • For better or worse there is a large number of NPCs that can be chatted to get a little bit more world building, but ultimately they aren't that important.

Cons:
  • Large amount of invisible walls
  • Linear levels that feel like they want to be open, but this may just be due to early game missions restricting the zones.
  • levels do get reused or feel very similar to other zones. Not a huge problem for me, but I know some people dislike that.

The PC Port

Pros:
  • Great optimization, at least for 1080p. Haven't had any stutters or frame dips yet

Cons:
(I haven't experienced any of these)
  • No widescreen support
  • Issues with keyboard mapping. This is legitimate issue but almost all Bandai games are just better with a gamepad.

Cyberpunk 2077 is complicated since it does many thing well, but the flaws that it does have are severe to say the very least.

Here's the things it does well
  • Story/writing/side quest
  • World detail and content
  • Graphics (if you're PC can handle it)
  • Characters
  • Gameplay for combat and sneaking (imo)
Things that are only OK
  • Driving
  • Enjoyment
  • Tech Trees
The Bad
  • Optimization
  • Bugs
  • Crunch

Detailed Review
I personally have been having a great time with the game. Not sure if I'm just getting the lucky, but the bugs haven't been too bad for me but there's plenty of evidence to show it can be bad. I haven't finished the story as of yet, but I'm really liking so far and the side quest keeping occupied in its place have been great. The world feels alive and filled with detail when something is going horribly wrong via bugs.

The combat to me is enjoyable with the heavy recoil at the start and it slowing getting lower as you get more proficient with whatever weapon you're using. I haven't done melee too much, but I like how the swords feel more compared to the fist. The tech tree is just ok, while some of the tech skills do feel like they add a good bit to the hacking aspects, the guns and combat ones feel much less impactful. As someone who has mostly focused on the Reflexes stat combat wise, the only thing they really do is more damage or faster reload with X weapon type or while doing Y, at least for most perks.

The optimization as pointed by many is pretty bad. I will say that drivers definitely need to be updated to make it livable though. I have a RX580 and running the game at 1080p with an average of 30-40fps with the medium preset with a few things turned up. I will say the game still looks good when everything is working correctly even on medium, but it's a real shame I can't manage to push higher settings or at least better performance.

The bugs, as mention earlier, have been minor for me. Disappearing NPCs, no hair in the mirror while wearing hats (pretty much a feature), floating objects, cars despawning or spawning very close to the player, and plenty of other small things. This didn't break it for me, but it took me out of the world end definitely hurt how much I've enjoyed the world. There's plenty of videos showing worse bugs than that, but I haven't had those.

Crunch is bad no matter what and it shouldn't have happened to begin with. It is obvious why it did happen though, they announced the release date too soon, did too many delays making none of them long enough, and were scared of would happened if it released in an even worse state than it did. It's a shame it did happened and happens in the industry, but hopefully CDPR and other companies learn from their mistakes and don't do this again.

Summary

While I think this is a great game, it desperately needs to be patched to fix bugs and further optimize. This game isn't the next biggest thing like some people expected, but I think it's a very good story that a has a beautiful open world. Though things mentioned in some trailers such as life paths and clothing don't really feel as important as they were made out to be unfortunately. The AI is also very sub-par and while the world on the surface feels fleshed out,
the very basic and sometimes buggy AI really brings it down. If you really want to be immersed or not be bothered with bugs I'd wait a good 2 months at the least and where this game is then.

Score
Currently: 7/10
When bugs are fixed and better optimization: 8.5/10

As you can probably tell from the amount of my hours in this game, I enjoy it very much. If you want to build a car THIS IS THE GAME!

The gameplay while not super engaging compared to a shooter or a full on racing game, is super enjoyable if you like making things and have an interest in cars. For early access it is fairly in depth, and while it's not super hard to make a car or an engine, you still have to take time to master styling cars and making efficient/good engines. The engine is by far the most complex part of making the car, while the chassis, drivetrain, suspension, etc. is not super complex, they are still decently customizable.

Another way to enjoy this game is competing in user made competitions, making a fake brand/company, and showing off you car on the Automation Forums [discourse.automationgame.com]. The competitions and made up brands are a great source of inspiration and motive to make cars, and in my opinion make it even more enjoyable. The most common one is CSR [discourse.automationgame.com] where multiple people (with their brand(s)) compete to satisfy a customers needs.

Another great thing for those who own BeamNG. Drive is that you can export your Automation car to it and drive it. This is just another level of depth that makes it enjoyable to make cars. With updates Automation keeps getting better and the exporter to Beam keeps getting more developed.

The modding community is also pretty active and there is already a solid amount of mods available. The devs are still very active and check in frequently on the Discord and respond to most reviews and some comments in community discussions and update post.

This game (even without BeamNG) is incredibly enjoyable. I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in cars and enjoys making things. The devs care about the community and are still very much active. This is probably my #1 Early Access game as of now.

Quick note, I never went over the fact the game has a campaign. It's very much in development alongside the rest of the game, but from I have played it is starting to get really good, and those who like management games as well will find it enjoyable.

Firefall was one of my favorite MMORPGs that I've ever played. It wasn't pay to win at all, it was fun in PVE and some enjoyed PVP (I didn't get into it), and craftign and getting resources was also fun. Though in late 2015 things started heading down hill. Red 5 Studios was baught by parent company L & A International Holdings Ltd which is a chinese compamny. This is when updates were slowing down, and extremely overpriced DLC started being sold.

In early 2016 is was rumored that employes of Red 5 Studios have been getting underpayed for sometime, but ingame Devs/Mods denied this. Though later in July of 2016 Red 5 Studios layed off many of its employes, and the reason was obvious.

It's not Red 5 Sudios fault that the game failed, but the greedy parent company that took control. As far as I know Red 5 didn't get a long very well with the parent company and many details aren't known. As of now, and probably forever since now this game should not be played. Everythign is dead, and the game almost feels stripped of the things that made it great in the past.

I wish the best to Red 5 Studios, and hope that the game can either recover and revive the community, or that someone can manage to make a game close to this. If anyone is looking for a substitute to this game, you'll mots likely hear of a game called Project Genom, if you consider getting it, I warn you that game is in very early builds and the updates seem to slow, so I highly recommend you wait on it.

Best substitutes currently include Planetside 2, Defiance, Warframe, and ones you find good enough. Hope this helps people understand how this great game failed aswell and Red 5, and thank you for reading.

This game is just an awesome, fun and relaxing game. I've only had one bug and it was nothing huge, just chickens getting stuck under the ground. And every update is very well thought out and always adds something great. The game itself if very well polished aswell as the gameplay. The map may see small at first, but once you start unlocking the areas, there almost seems like there's too much to explore. And the minimal barriers is very nice, you can find a few spots that aren't complete, but it just makes you wonder what's to come. The graphics are stylized very wel land it just make for a beautiful, highly vibrant world. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of relaxing games and just overall great gameplay.
