After putting a few hours into the game I've noticed some flaws. What's most striking is that there is a good amount of lag going on. I spent some time fiddling with graphics settings but that didn't really do much. Lowering screen resolution helped but doing that in a text heavy PDX game isn't really an option for me. I figure this issue will be patched. What worries though me is that Imperator at launch feels really bare bones. There are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of playable tribes, kingdoms, empires etc In a huge world. But that's kind of it. There is MUCH in this game. But content-wise, Imperator isn't really there yet. It's good enough for release. Compared to the launch states of EUIV, HOI4 and CK2 though Imperator feels hollow, and I'm starting to wonder if I just payed 40€ for a DLC platform. Paradox doing DLC isn't new but with other franchises, they felt more finished in their launch state and didn't at the time feel like they were in need of DLC. Imperator does though. It really does.

If someone asks me if Imperator is any fun, I would indeed answer yes, for a while. Was it worth the 40€ price tag? Well, nah. Really on the fence here. But just as Stellaris at launch, Imperator feels unfinished. Really unfinished. This will surely be mended, as with Stellaris, with patches, but with this release my admiration for PDS and Paradox really took a hit.

Would play.? Yes. Would recommend? Y sure. Would've hoped PDS do this kind of release? Nope. Absolutely not.
