Hustle Cat was my first visual novel and it changed my mind about the genre.
How could I not like this game?! Cats, magic, coffee, and cute coworkers! It was destined to be a good fit for me. Not to mention, it’s amazing that you can choose pronouns and it doesn’t affect who you can romance. It’s also a great option for players that are looking for a cute VN instead of an 18+.

Rose of Winter is so cute! I bought it on sale because I finished Hustle Cat and wanted something similar.
Rosemary is precious. I adore her character design and want to thank the creators for making a lead female who's plus sized, has messy hair, and possesses an upbeat attitude. I think Rosemary is relatable and will win the hearts of most players. The princes are standard cliches (strong type, rogue type, playboy type, mysterious type) but they all have personality and don’t necessarily fall flat because they’re stereotypes. Witty dialogue and fun flirty moments abound, I’d recommend you get this game on sale because it can be finished in a relatively short amount of time.

One of the best games of 2016 and quite possibly the best walking simulator ever.

I fell in love with Firewatch because it feels so real. As the player you're taken through the entire gamut of emotions. I would credit that experience to Firewatch's amazing dialogue and outstanding voice acting.

We all know this game is pretty, make sure to take lots of screencaps.

After my first playthrough I thought the story ended a bit abruptly but after my second playthrough I admit that the ending makes perfect sense for the story. It left me reflecting on the characters and admitting to myself that I would probably return a third or even fourth time.

As much as I want to say, "Yes, spend $20 and play it now!" I think most people would prefer to pick this game up at a price point below $15 (the soundtrack is really good too, make sure to get that eventually).

If you have a couple hours to kill and want a charming, heartwarming game I highly recommend you check out Corinne Cross's Dead & Breakfast.

This game is a story told through simple tasks that take place over the span of a week. You water plants, collect mail, learn cooking recipes, and talk to ghosts in a pretty watercolor-esque landscape.

If you play your cards right you’ll be rewarded with a delightfully bittersweet ending. Make sure to give New Game+ mode a shot where you can meet new characters.

A friend purchased this for me as an early birthday present in the hopes that we could co-op together...

We heard the news about a week later and I should have started the return to get my friend's money back. Instead, we listened to the developers who continued to gloss over the fact that meeting in this game is virtually impossible so I held onto the pre-purchase in the hopes my friend and I would figure something out.

Upon release I played 4 hours and quickly realized that not only was co-op impossible but it was also a pretty bad game.
I run a competent system that can play new games on high settings. No Man's Sky was almost impossible to play on launch. It's also incredibly boring and fairly anxiety inducing, contrary to what many gamers say is a relaxing experience.

I make it a goal to review all the games in my Steam library that, I feel, have presented everything they have to offer. With No Man's Sky my time was not worth trudging through this game to find out more. It's a shame and I wish my friend had his money back.

Sometimes I just need to unwind with relaxing music and water virtual plants for 5 minutes at a time.

This game is great for the avid houseplant lover that may not have the time or money to spend on the real deal.
Just make sure to know when to activate vacation mode because it's incredibly disheartening when you log in to find your plants dead.

Supergiant's debut game does not disappoint.

I'm absolutely in love with the art style, narration, and music. It's a game that can either be enjoyed in one burst from start to finish or savored in small pieces. The shrine, proving grounds, and multiple achievements that you can earn lend to a great New Game Plus mode.

Make sure to check out Transistor as well as Supergiant's next upcoming title, Pyre!

Stardew Valley is by far one of the most fun and uplifting games in my Steam library.

It's also extremely motivating! I found myself doing yard work that had been placed on the backburner because of this game. If you want a lighthearted, inspiring adventure then this is absolutely the game for you.

Beautiful storytelling, great characters, hilarious dialogue, and dynamic soundtrack. Even if you're terrible at the gameplay like I am, keep going, you'll really feel accomplished at the end. I've only completed a true pacifist run and I don't think I have the heart to try any other paths.

Dust reminded me of all the things I loved in video games as a child. Dean Dodrill and Humble Hearts delivered a game that felt sincere. You can tell that effort was put into every aspect of this game. If you're looking for classic young adult adventure and you happened to have a fondness for Neopets then look no further.
