I don't play these types of games often, but this is some good stuff. Great characters, great story, gimmick doesn't overstay its welcome, and genuinely pretty funny writing (even if the crude humour doesn't land sometimes).

My only gripes are that
1. It's not longer
2. There's no endless mode for dispatching team members.
3. I can't choose to play as a girl
d. guys how do I romance malevola is there a way to do it please I need this
6: Give me Season 2
VI) I kept recognizing Jack and Charlie's voices and it pulled away a bit of my immersion at times.

Overall, good ♥♥♥♥.

Feels very incomplete. The very few actual choices you're given in the game do pretty much nothing to affect the story as a whole, only influencing small changes in dialogue. It doesn't even have an actual ending, it just abruptly cuts to a shameless plug for the developer's next game. I'd been looking forward to playing this when it came out, but I'm very disappointed with the final product.

The game's runtime is very short of what is advertised. You can beat the entire thing in the span of about half an hour to an hour while seeing almost everything it has to offer. You can complete the game multiple times (despite there being very little point in doing so) and still be able to refund the game according to Steam's policies.

As it stands, this is not at all worth the price. Hopefully it gets updated with more content but for now it's very lacking.

The art is nice however. Though I ran into an issue in one scene where one of Courtney's expressions just didn't exist. There are also frequent graphical artifacts that I've noticed, but I seem to notice these in most Renpy games anyway.

I have some mixed feelings on this game.

Pros:
-Some of these environments are just gorgeous. I'm not sure but I feel like there's been a pretty large graphical improvement over Portal 2.
-I'm a big fan of some of the new puzzle elements they introduced.
-The characters are at least a bit fun.
-It's more Portal content, which is infinitely more than we'll ever get from Volvo.
-The test chambers, as the store page advertises, start at around the same level they end at in Portal 2, making it a great play for people who finished Portal 2 but aren't crazy about some of the more difficult community chambers.
-It's free.

Cons:
-The chambers were often pretty confusing, not giving you enough clues to figure out what to do and often requiring a lot of backtracking, both in distance and in frequency. I found myself checking walkthroughs at least a dozen times in my playthrough, and some of those times I just found myself being surprised to find whole elements of tests that I had no idea even existed, because the game almost hid them from me. In some chambers, I felt that I had not beaten them properly. In other Portal games I would feel sneaky or clever for beating them in an unintended fashion, but because of the way these chambers are designed, it just felt like I had failed by bruteforcing my way through. I often also found myself thinking that I had figured out the solution to a test, only to be immediately brought down from that high by an obstacle that I had been unaware of.
-You're stuck with the single portal gun for WAY too long. It takes multiple chapters to get the dual portal gun, and it becomes frustrating very quickly. For some reason, the game also just randomly decides you should get a reskin of the gun which has zero difference in the way it functions.
-The characters, as fun as they are, are ultimately unforgettable. I've already forgotten all of their names and I've literally just finished the game. They're basically just PotatOS and Wheatley again.
-The game's story feels very rushed, especially towards the end.One of the main characters has a key reveal, leading to a fairly interesting arc which is abruptly shut down by an equally abrupt ending, giving it no conclusion. A couple story elements are just taken from other Valve games. Namely, the teleporter sequence and its failure being ripped straight from the opening of Half Life 2.
-The game seems to be almost terrified of interfering with or contradicting anything from the canon story of the Portal franchise. The plot is ultimately inconsequential as it has zero effect on the main games' story, unlike games like Mel, which contributed to the story of Portal 2. Ironically, this game manages to take away from some of Portal 2's impact anyway, with the idea that brains scanned into cores (such as GLaDOS herself) are copies rather than the more horrific option that is implied in Portal 2. If it was a simple copy with the original surviving, why was Caroline so strongly against it in the cut dialogue (I can already tell I'm going to get criticised for referencing cut content but I consider it to be canon, and so does this game). It teases possible reveals later in the game (i.e. how GLaDOS was created with out Caroline's consent) and then doesn't deliver on them. Another example of this would be how [FEMALE-USED-TO-BE-HUMAN-CORE] suggests finding an android body for herself. At the time I thought it was teasing her finding an Atlas casing later in the game, but this is never brought up again. It brings nothing new to the table.

I wish Steam had a Mixed option but unfortunately I have to choose not to recommend this game.

"Not a bad game, but the rampant microtransaction nickle-and-dime hell plus the absolute hostility against mods makes this a never-buy. Give your money to someone more deserving." -Tupper, VRChat's Head of Community
