This is basically Super Metroid Randomizer with a unique robot apocalypse storyline.

"Plate Up!" gives gamers the opportunity to experience the hells of working in foodservice, without actually doing so, thereby increasing the level of sympathy for low-level workers at a time when the fight for an increased minimum wage is a hot issue.

This is a subtly subversive ploy by the devs to support the global fight against the capitalist oligarchy.

You think this is just a game, but actually it's socialist propaganda. Yeah. That's right. Spoooky socialism

A solid metroidvania, although a bit light on mobility items compared to something like The Messenger, but then again you're not supposed to be a ninja flying around, you are an armored conehead.

Idk wtf a "soulsborne" is because I don't play ♥♥♥♥ games, but this wasn't nearly as difficult as people are making it out to be. It's a lot like the old 2D Prince of Persia games, but significantly more forgiving. Combat is perfectly fair, you can straight up jump over and ignore a lot of enemies, attacks are always clearly telegraphed (aside from a rare animation bug or two), and there are plenty of upgrades to find to make your sword hit harder or up your defenses in various ways. A lot of bosses can almost be facetanked. Some of the platforming can be frustrating, but once you get the HANG of clinging to ledges, your only worry is going too fast and falling on spikes.

Funny enough, this game has really made me want to replay the Messenger just because that game just does everything right and most metroidvanias do almost nothing right.

I think it would be awesome... if people were actually playing it.

It's like Stardew Valley except you take out the wholesome stuff about building a new life in a small town and replace it with cannibalism and black magic.

The focus is less on farming and more on crafting and upgrading things. Oddly enough, it ends up being more laid back and less stressful than SDV because there are no seasonal restrictions on activities, and you can save any time you want.

The problem with the old school beatemups is that 99% of them were pretty terrible, with almost no balancing done, and the only way people would beat them is by finding some exploit the devs put in so they could themselves beat it.

This game relies too much on trying to make a new spin on the old genre, without polishing up the inherent problems of this genre. The genre pretty much completely died for a reason, and this offering has done nothing to rectify the issues of old beatemups.

The basic software is really limited in functionality and they charge quite a bit for packages that don't seem to be worth it considering the other options on the market. Documentation for built-in functions is sorely lacking, and some of them have parameter options which flat out do not work.

And big yikes on dev comments

Every aspect of this game is done well. One of those rare gems that just hits all the right spots. Any fan of permadeath games needs to own this one.
