Great game when it first came out, slowly got better and over time the updates made it worse. I just finished a game where we killed 2 teams of 2 guys, secured the bounty and extracted, didnt receive any experience or money whatsoever. Crytek has no idea what they're doing and ruined a decent game that had so much potential. It doesnt help that they are radio silent to criticism and concern from the community, ♥♥♥♥ this game.

I'll admit I fell for the hype train at E3 last year, then I fell for it again every time Bethesda put out more clips and live streams of the game. From there it looked extremely promising, and it is. Personally, I grew up on traditional FPS games and what I loved about those games is that they were hard and unforgiving; having large rooms and corridors filled to the brim with enemies, pick-ups. Although I've never actually played the original DOOM games in their natural state, I did enjoy them via other means. I guess I'll call this DOOM 4 since this would be very redundant. Skipping school for this game was worth it, I really enjoy this game. I've put almost 7 hours in already on the "Hurt me plenty" diffculty and it's challenging to an extent.
-Movement and speed are fluid, very good animation quality.
-Gun-play is fast and hard hitting, although can get repetitious.
-Several upgrade trees (?) and tiers allow you to tailor Doom Guy to your play style, more or less.
-Demons are true to the first DOOM games with the original cast along with some additions from DOOM 3.
-Glory-kills are fun to watch, add a little bit of an edge with minor health drops and they can be toggled on or off.
-Environments vary depending on size whether you're in the UAC base or Hell.

Overall I enjoy the Hell out of this game, it has good replayability and a lot of nods and fedora-tips to the originals. This game may not revive the traditional shooter genre, but atleast it does something Call of Duty might not rip off.

Early Access Review
Regardless of the game being ladened with bugs and lag, its still quite a bit of fun. Only purchase the game now IF you are wanting to support the developers and the game. The game's features so far include: lite crafting, dungeon crawling, mob hunting, lite PVP, and exploration. The farming mechanics are VERY similar to Rust because you're given a 'loot gathering tool' from the beginning and randomly scattered around the world are caches of resources (ores, trees, crystals, fossils). And every cache, once struck will give you one or two of an item that you just struck. So if you're good with Rust's loot system, then you're good. Since the game is in it's very early stages of development infancy; it offers little, but has the potential to be somehting great. The problem with the lag is a big problem indeed; however, avoidable via joining small servers i.e. 2-5 players. Grav's server system is also not very fleshed out and if you have a character on a server you like a lot, you'll have to remember that server's name hence the game's lack of persistence (having shared gear on all servers). On a lesser note: the game's aesthetic is beautiful, it has loads of vibrant colors that are pleasing to the eye.

This game is an absolute gem, I played Metro 2033 when I was 11 (a rental from blockbuster) for Xbox 360 and it scared the hell out of me... I picked it back up for my new laptop (GTX 670M, 2.3 GHz, 17in, 16 GB RAM) and loved every second of it, however when I heard of the new Metro Redux package, I felt it was my solomn duty to buy it. I had spent over 30+ hours on both Metro games preluding Redux, they were the best looking games I had ever seen and made my eyes hurt from the level of detail. So when i bought Metro Redux for my new desktop (GTX 770 TI 2GB Superclocked, 4.0 GHz, 16 GB RAM) I needed a game to step up to the plate and tell me if it'd put up, and it did, beautifully. But if its the overhaul you come for, then take a long look at every little item in both games whether it be a miniscule rusty barrel to a hulking librarian, you'll see the incredibly hard work the developers put into these games, this game is perfect for high spec machines and unforgiving for low spec (sorry). I recommend this game fully and hope more people buy it to support the devs and gain a better prespective on a superiorly built FPS.

I spawned in a small town (forgot the name) and met up with a fairly geared gentleman... he wasnt too friendly and even pulled his gun on me. knowing i had nothing to lose i ran behind him and placed a good blow to the back of his head and knocked him out, i might also mention he missed all shots with an SKS and i calmly sang: "Dawg is a melon" by FrankieOnPC. i took his things and felt no remorse. 10/10

Definitely a game for big kids, not at all your typical shooter. playing it for the first time wasn't easy by all means, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be so much more fun o play than call of duty or battlefield.
