Fun game, simple gameplay, but very engaging, funny and good storytelling at the same time. really recommend this, good one Devolver Digital.

Injustice 2 is a successful successor to Injustice, a progress of gameplay and everything in general but of course it doesn't mean it has its own set of fault .
this review is spoiler free!

if you are asking about the singleplayer campaign gameplay mechanic there is nothing wrong within it, the same as first Injustice the story is viewed through one of the playable characters for each chapter in the story, but now there is something new, some chapters have two playable instead, giving us option on who to use and it gives us alternate scenes for different characters and a bit of replayability, the story mode also gives alternate endings in which i won't tell more what the endings are, but all i say it gives a replayability value just a bit for story mode.

what i have problem with is the story itself
like the first game many of its backstory is stored within The Injustice comic book (for those who doesn't know yes there is a comic book series based on the Injustice game that tells much of its backstory), the difference here is that in the first injustice game even if you didn't read the comic series you would know what happened in the background albeit not as detail. BUT in this Injustice 2 you won't even know what happened, suddenly this and that happened that won't make sense unless you read the comic book that tell the story of Injustice 2, and it doesn't help that there are inconsitensies that happened between the comic book and the game that makes it a big "Eh?" from storyline point of view.

this is a very great addition to the game in both singleplayer and multiplayer, the multiverse are events that happened for the game that gives challanges and alternative campaign that rewards very greatly including gears, shaders/skins, and additional abilities for your characters, the multiverse has various levels in which lower to middle difficulties can be a breeze and only difficult if you randomly button mash, the higher difficulties however are punishing, even experienced players can have difficulties in high leveled multiverse, especially without the correct gear. the rewards of the multiverse however are more satisfying the higher the difficulties for the event so go train and don't be afraid of failures.

the online pvp is a great experience and gears effect are disabled(with the exception of one game mode) with various game modes such as ranked pvp, versus, competitive versus, and king of the hill, the online experience has many to offer. the only problem is the small player base of the game which can bring difficulties when you are searching for oppenents late at night.

the economy of this game without question implements microtransaction BUT! every microtransaction items are all cosmectics (skins/shaders) or to level up your character once at least one character has reached lvl 20 (which is easy enough by grinding in multiverse so really you don't have to pay up to level up), it has no impact to the gameplay in any form, more over although there is a lootbox system called mother box *insert steppenwolf gif saying mother meme here* these mother box can't be bought with real money and only through grinding (note the grinding is really easy and fast) through the multiverse (both single player and guild/online multiverse) and story mode when you first play it, therefore those cosmetics are directly bought if you want to buy it with real money and not through random drop from mother box.

now let's talk about the cons shall we?
arcade mode is hidden
yes if you didn't google it and read various forums where people has asked the same thing "where is arcade mode, well ladies and gentleman it exist, just hidden in the single-player multiverse menu under the training multiverse one (the planet on the far right), under the name multiverse training.

no gallery mode
yes literally vanish, not implemented, you can't view past cutscenes you have unlocked in the storymode and you can't view past character ending that is obtainable through the already hidden arcade mode.

there are some lag issues or fps drop at times but through recent times it has become rarer so thank the devs, but for safety measure especially for multiplayer, down your texture level just one, even if the benchmark tells you can play at very high texture option, just use the high or lower to avoid lag, fps drop, and even CTD at extreme cases (it has happened to me).

well this review is finished, i recommend it really, the price tag is also worth it too (but it is okay if you want it at discounted price *wink* steam sale *wink*).

This game is for people who delves deep into games story and enjoys it, this game is a mind blow, a truth about war, and the utter horror everyone that involved in it faces.
This game is about how no one leave unscathed from war, physically or mentally.
