Summary
This study was conducted in the Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception High School Department to determine: 1) to evaluate the effects of the computer games in students to their academic performance; 2) to classify how the computer games affects the FCICians High School students’ behavior; 3) to determine why High school students are addicted in computer games. The study includes thirty (30) students from Franciscan College of the Immaculate Conception.
Primary data were used in the analysis of the study and were collected pretested survey questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages.
A total of 30 FCICican High School Students were surveyed. It consists of 26 or (86.67%) students-respondents who are playing computer games.
Results showed that majority of the students-respondents are playing computer games. There are also 4 (18.33 %.) who are non-players.
The students’ common reasons why they played computer games. It shows that fifty three point eighty five percent (53.85%) and fourteen (14) responses of the respondents say they play for fun. Meanwhile nineteen point twenty three percent (19.23%) or five (5) of the total of responses of the respondents say that they play for occupying leisure time. The third ranking on the list has total of eleven point fifty four percent (11.54%) or three (3) of the total responses of the respondents say that they play to feel better. Lastly seven point sixty nine percent (7.69%) or two (2) of the total responses of the respondents say that they play just for past time and hobby.
