Spirits' Creek succeeds at being an ambitious student game that manages to have a strong sense of atmosphere. So many aspects of this game show the creativity of the devs and their understanding of the horror game genre. The soundscapes are effective and the art is impressive considering the limited number of weeks the game was developed in.
The mechanics are things you would expect from horror games. Fleeing monstrosities, limited save stations, limited resources and scattered documents of storytelling. The game adds in some puzzle elements revolving around fire and ice befitting of the mountainous environment where the game takes place.

There are some bugs here and there but overall the experience shows the promising future for all of those involved. Congratulations!

Overview: Rainbow Billy succeeds at creating an original approach to confrontation in games that relies entirely on being compassionate and understanding through dialogue. Some games such as the Persona series and Undertale touch upon this idea but not as wholeheartedly as this game.

The exploration and confrontations are most comparable to the Paper Mario series, with vibrant islands and perspective based secrets. The "combat" involves a combination of timing based puzzles and dialogue that tests your understanding and compassion for the creatures you encounter. The game doesn't hide its childlike imagination and optimism here but rather wears it on its sleeve with pride. When in the game's home base, the "friend-ship" (heheh) you get to chat with your recruited creatures and get to know them better (levelling them up) which feeds nicely into the gameplay loop and the game's themes.

Overall Rainbow Billy feels very well thought out and realised. ManaVoid set out to create a game the subverts the expectations of games as blood-filled violence machines and presents the player with an uplifting game about listening to and understanding those around you to improve the world we live in. It is a triumph in what it sets out to do.

Whether you're a horror fan, someone who enjoys single player games with great atmosphere and originality or you just want to see that big vampire lady, Resident Evil Village has something for you.

With a thick atmosphere and clever level design HIVE gotta recommend this one.

The game is pretty impressive coming from a group of students. A fun little metroidvania with some nice art!

Everything good you've heard about it is true. Not only is it a fantastic use of VR and a showcase of physics but it's also the killer app VR has desperately needed.

Disco is one of those games that you think about even when you stop playing, even when you beat it.

The characters are well realized and the world is dense with points of interest.

Things that would seem mundane in most games are given new life thanks to the game's mentally unstable protagonist. Talk to mailboxes, ties, crates and corpses but most importantly get to know the 20+ personalities inside your characters own head.

If there's a narrative must play game for 2019, it's this one folks.

This is first and foremost a simple and accessible city builder. It hooks you in quickly and throws increasing odds against you until you're city becomes virtually unstoppable. The process is addictive but unfortunately the game ends up getting easy a tad too quickly. Nonetheless, the game succeeds at what it sets out to do, especially for the asking price.
