I've played all the Doom's and this one does a nice job of combining the classic games with Doom 2016. Lot's of strafing, and using abilities to survive high stress, bloody brawls. (I beat the game on Ultra).
Where the game really shines is the level design and art - really amazing stuff that made me chill out after a huge brawl and check things out to poke around for secrets.
I'll ding it for lackluster, soulless music that just worries about fulfilling the metal tropes vs actual meaningful music that hit your right where it needs to, when it needs to. Finishing Move Inc is decent, but have never made music that really stood out besides maybe Halo 2. Maybe Bethesda should screw over highly talented musicians for music?
I'll also ding them for the Ahzrak fights. Not once, twice, or three times, but a grand total of FIVE fights against Ahzrak. (Actually 2 fights, first fight has three phases, second fight has two). Annoyingly they made the fight more difficult by making his attacks or combos inconsistent which annoyed the living ♥♥♥♥ out of me instead of coming up with more combos or attacks.
Story wise - up to this point I have no idea what the story is, what order or anything about what is really happening so I cared little about the cutscenes. Zero continuity going on here and I don't see how we're expected to know it either when there is half a decade between each game.

I played, and recommend the game for the same reason I played the OG Dooms - for a fun challenge, and to explore cool levels. Not worth the full $70 price tag, but a good one for $30 - $35. All secrets and all achievements in a casual 44 hours over the course of a month.

Whoever greenlit this game never played Arkham. Play control is utter garbage. Story seems ok, but I can't get passed how terrible the controls are.
If you played Arkham DO NOT THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS GAME. The controls are frustratingly clunky. You can't even interact with an object easily let alone sneak attack someone. The sneak attack button is the same as a ranged attack so it's a 50/50 chance you throw a ranged weapon instead of doing a sneak attack / take down - even when the message to sneak attack is up.
Other than that gone are the days of flying around the city and getting somewhere easily - instead they give you a motorcycle to cruise around in. So much for lurking from the rooftops.
Lastly the cut scenes are sometimes (which there are tons of) have terrible pacing and feel awkward most of the time.
I did not have performance, or frames issues. Game ran great, but did have a few crashes. I would refund but in my effort to try and force myself through the game I ran over my hours - don't make the same mistake.

Game is done. Nothing but hacks and stacks. I haven't seen a decent match-up in Team Objective in a month now. I'm uninstalling at 666 hours. I'm sad, but it was massively flawed, but some of the best PVP I've ever played.

Good fights all

Toted at a simple hack and slash but it's much more when you start understanding it. Feints, footwork, and tricking your opponent are ways to victory.

Once you start understanding it you'll understand that the faster the ping, the better you'll be. Don't bother if you're ping is 60+. You'll never see accelerated attacks from a fast weapon like a dagger.

Servers are usually pure ♥♥♥♥, non-stop lag and have been since launch.

No detailed information on weapon specs.

It would be an amazing game if Torn Banner took it seriously. It could actually be quite the competitive game also - but again no one takes the game seriously. Torn Banner has had plenty of time to fix servers, even cosmetic bugs but stays silent and keeps to themselves. Zero communication to the fanbase and zero effort shown in attempting to fix anything.

I've never been punished so hard for trying to explore and reloads after dying are insane load times. Zero intuitiveness for underlying game mechanics. This is a game for masochists and those that enjoy being punished for playing a game.

Refunded. Avoid if you don't have a controller.

I had high hopes for this game, I really, really, did. But the controls are simply FUBAR. The developer fix? Use a controller. Well, I don't own one and i'm not going to buy one just because the dev team can't spend the effort to properly implement controls for a freaking keyboard. How lazy is that?

Think of this as Divinity meets Mario Rabbids simplified. Very fun game. Great atmosphere, and excellent environmental details.

This game is probably awesome. I really wish I can play it...I can play every other game, just not this one. I have a state of the art PC that can run 4k and every (other) game at the highest settings. Support for the game is non-existant. The shades keep glitching and sometimes it can't even find my monitor - I run single screen, turned all touch screen drivers off. Not playable.

12 hours of exploring / puzzle gameplay with a great atmosphere provided by the environment and soundtrack for $20 is worth it in my opinion.

Neat little story, with combat taking a back seat. I personally would have prefered more combat, but I do like to explore which this game is mostly.

Well done Runic games. Now mash up this game and Shadow of the Colossus and you'll have pure gold on your hands.
