I was enjoying this through the first two acts/zones but this still felt like a game designed 15 years ago with a coat of paint. Graphics were okay, combat was solid but the traversal was excruciating much of time. Why am I still struggling to crawl/jump over a foot tall rock in 2025.

My biggest complaint is zone/act 3 was an absolute slog to get through with incoherent quests and writing, not to mention bugged quests galore. I had to abandon one of the pivotal quests in the zone, as reloads didn't fix the issue. Maybe this small team will get around to actually fleshing out/completing act 3, but I wouldn't bother till then.

Edit: After some thought, I'm updating my review to recommended. Just keep expectations in check. If I gave this a review on a 10 point scale, it'd probably be a 6 at this time.

Early Access Review
Path of Exile offers engaging gameplay with its refined difficulty system, skill gems, and socket mechanics. The gameplay aspect has been a fun and rewarding experience for me. However, the experience is severely hampered by an archaic account management system and an exceptionally unresponsive support team. While downvoting a game based on customer service might seem unusual, to me, it's justified here (EA or not) - these aren't minor inconveniences but fundamental issues that directly impact the ability to access and enjoy the game. When basic account problems go unresolved and support tickets disappear into the void, even the most polished gameplay features lose their luster.

Edit: Campaign is great, end game is crap (around 100 hours on PS5). I can no longer play on Steam, hence the scathing customer support comment

This was one of my favorite releases of the last few years and it does not disappoint on PC. I thought the story was intriguing, voice acting fantastic (Sam Witwer never disappoints) and setting beautiful. The only issue I had at launch was the poor pacing of the story, obviously unchanged here and the graphical bugs. That being said, from what I've experienced thus far, the graphical issues have been remedied. Granted I'm playing on a higher end PC with a 3080 and I understand this will not be the experience of everyone but no PC port is flawless. If you enjoyed the original release on PS4 I have no doubt you'll love this port. There are a plethora of graphical options (obviously why we play on PC) as well as soid control and accessibility options. I've been hoping for an ultra-wide 60fps port for years and I finally have it. Don't miss out!

The game is a blast to play....when it isn't crashing or kicking you off the server. Honestly I'm just over these always online games. If you offer a solo mode, you can offer an offline experience. I'd prefer to review a game based on it's gameplay and not it's infrastructure but this has become so damn prevalent these days that it has become a necessary part of the review process. Disappointing cause under the load of these issues is a great looter shooter game with solid mechanics and story. It doesn't do anything unique but what it does do, it does well. Shame!
