TLDR; Horrible performance, everything good about the first game has been made clunky and terrible on the second one. From stamina management, climbing mechanics to looting mechanics. After 2+ hours of gameplay, still couldn't play the co-op.

I only played the first 2 hours, but it made me genuinely just sad and disappointed, first 1 hour was me literally just fighting the game for it to run even semi-decently.

Also I tried to play the game on co-op, and during the first 2 hours of gameplay, I was never able to play in co-op, which was like the number one reason for me to get the game in the first place.

I really really really wanted to like this game and I was waiting for it to release for years to steam and to be a little discounted so I could afford it. I had a lot of fun with Dying Light 1, it was one of the only really cool story driven games to play in co-op (Even tho it wasn't without its faults), and I love co-op games.

Speaking of performance, Dying Light 2 on the general settings that the game decided to launch with, I had over 1 second input lag and barely 30 fps on the menu. ON. THE. MENU.

So then the game crashed on me more than 6 times as I was trying to make the keybinds something that I could work with on Keyboard & mouse and visual settings something where I would even have a stable-ish 60fps. (not to mention, I don't consider 60fps generally speaking enough/ acceptable on a gaming PC)

After finally tweaking the visual settings where the FPS was around 60 game ended up looking awful. Well maybe it plays well still? Like, maybe it's still fun like the first game?

Wong.

I play games to have fun and to feel powerful, the climbing-stamina made every obstacle/ building to feel like a frustrating task rather than a fun obstacle. (You climb a lot in this game.)
I especially hated the spot in the beginning where you are supposed to scale a wall multiple times where you just fail before the NPC drops you a ladder. Cool thanks not only am I frustrated in all the BS I am dealing with mechanically, I'm also thinking that I am just bad at the general mechanics.

When it's a running/parkour game there not being a sprint in the game made the whole game feel weird to play.
Imagine playing a game with chase/runaway scenes, and a depleatable stamina, but you cant actually sprint &/or use the stamina.

Oh also, remember on the first game where looting around for stuff was always a fun treasure hunt of a thing? You could even kinda do it fast as a run by grab thing. Now imagine the first game, but opening any container is a struggle, unless you are on the perfect side, position & distance from it.

Is guud, I like.

I can stea-... *coughcough* adopt helpless animal babies and grow them to be my loyal companions. What not to like. uwu

A romantic relationship developped between me and my follower, and to my bf and his follower. 11/10


This game has an epic story, very enjoyable characters and impacful feeling conversations, beautiful graphics, amazing locations, very solid combat system where the developpers are not afraid to give freedom to your creativity as a player.

There is a few minor bugs here and there, so quicksaving every now and then is recommended.

After getting the randomly generating map update and playing in few servers, I'd say that this game is pretty great.

By playing with some friends and gradually going towards harder and harder pvp servers you will have a lot of great and interesting playtime with only ~23€. (90h playtime atm, gona play some more for sure.)

If this is at an alpha stage, I can not wait to see what will the final game will be.
