Some people really can't handle not being the main character for one expansion despite getting glazed in every other cutscene huh?

Early Access Review
Incredible value for £3.59 (Even at full price of £4.79, it is hard to feel at a loss)

Coming in just shy of 15 hours of game time logged after only having this game for a few days should be enough of a justification to pick up this game, but I will provide some reasons.

- No bad choices, every trait or weapon I chose felt good in someway, I never regretted not taking one trait/weapon over the other as they all felt like reasonable power spikes which in turn made me excited to try the other options available.

- Items/Traits are descriptive enough to understand what they do without having to refer to a wiki or depend on prior knowledge.

- Player power overall feels pretty good no matter the run, with the busted runs feeling very good.

I look forward to the future development of Tiny Rogues, think this can develop in to something that is pretty amazing, I think the dream would be mod support in my opinion.

Highly recommended to both fans of the Yakuza series or JRPGs in general, it succeeds in being both a great Yakuza game and JRPG.

Edit: I have now proceeded to go on and obtain 100% of achievements in Like a Dragon, I have never done this for a game of similar size so take that as you will.

How long has it been since a decent Sonic game? Since about S3&K? Mania captures what made games such as Sonic 2 and 3&K great while providing a modern update without it being in the form of a terrible 3D game.

Also comes with Mean bean machine so if you are not down for that then I don't know what will convince you.

Edit: Denuvo was an error, game (supposedly) never had it and was a bug to do was Steam API.

I will start with a short summary of points, following will be a more extensive look.

Summary of points:

Pros:
+ Decently sized roster
+ Character balance seems good, even online see a wide variety of characters
+ Customization and related modes (Treasure mode and tournament mode)
+ Netcode seems stable
+ Gameplay gets pretty deep
+ Story/Character Episodes are fun short distractions
+ NJPW/Bullet Club gear

Cons:

- Finding a match takes a while
- Tournament mode while fun, needs to be fixed
- Lack of in-game tutorials could turn off some newer players.

Long Version:

Tekken 7 is my first Tekken game I have ever owned, I have played Tekken 3 and 5 very casually many years ago, long before I started taking fighting games more seriously.

Before Tekken 7 I was never really a fan of 3D fighting games but given a combination of poor decisions from Capcom, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on /r/kappa, a few friends getting Tekken 7 and the NJPW promotion I decidned to give Tekken 7 a try.

Fortunately some experience rolls over from my time playing 2D based fighting games such as general spacing, poking, not blindly throwing out unsafe moves for no reason etc. Characters like Akuma (Who I originally thought I was going to main based on my Street Fighter experience and watching Poongko absolutely destroy people with him) and Eliza exist for people wanting a more 2D fighter based playstyle, however I purposely decided to go for a Tekken character so I could learn "True" Tekken.

This leads in to the great character roster set out by Bandai Namco of 38 characters (Some of which are palette swaps so you could say it is effectively 36) Based on my limited experience the roster seems relatively balanced with a good variety of fighting and playing styles being portrayed. Character use online at least for me seems to reflect this balance.

Online is a bit of an issue but once you find a game the netcode is pretty solid, the problem lies with how games are currently found as when a player finds a match they have to then accept the match or choose to decline it, one current issue (which was attempted to be fixed on PC but the patch was reverted after it broke the game) is that players can see your rank and character before choosing if they want to accept or decline the match, now the obvious issue is that players can decline based on your rank or your character if they don't like the matchup or simply don't like the character at all. Another issue is that it seems that multiple people can find the same opponent at the same time, meaning if they accept before you and you also accept the match will no longer be available forcing you to search again, I believe searching for ranked matches should simply be connecting to the first person available within your search parameters.

Tournaments are fun as they are the only online matches to offer cosmetic rewards / fight money, however it is pretty broken as the host can kick participants at will, if people leave before the tournament ends, the prize pool drops and if the host leaves (typically following a loss) the tournament will end with no prizes, it is however a good mode offering double or single elimination is a nice addition I didn't expect from a online tournament mode as well, in it's current state I would only use tournament mode with friends / a trusted community.

Customization is a great addition, although as a massive NJPW and Bullet club fan, the Bullet Club T-Shirt tends to be applied to EVERYONE for me, although I heard the customization is lacking in comparison to Tekken Tag 2 , however I would imagine this would be added on over time.

Not too invested in the story mode (or character episodes) to offer a fair enough review as well as not completing it as of yet, however it does seem relatively short based on what I see is included in the story mode and my current progress, however I will say it is a decent enough short mode.

An issue players might have is the lack of any in-game tutorials as Tekken is highly complex and some visual guides in-game would be nice, however this can be sorted out with online tutorials (Avoidingthepuddle/Aris is a good person to start learning some basic/intermediate stuff from)

Even if like me you are unsure about 3D Fighters / Tekken, I would highly recommend trying Tekken 7, especially if you are concerned about the direction that Capcom is going with their fighting games.
