This looks and plays amazing! For the demo it's surprisingly polished.
The atmosphere is great. Not really scary but enough to be disturbing and uncomfortable.
Especially like the aesthetic and art style.

Can't wait to see the final game! If it's gonna be this level of quality through the whole game, It'll be a banger!

◆ Controls are nice, movement and combat feels smooth and snappy.
◆ Grappling hook (aka chain dagger) is super satisfying to use. It was my biggest concern. I thought it might looks great on video but will have flaws in reality, so glad it's not the case here.
◆ There's a real depth both in combat and platforming. It actually pretty complicated system but the game introduces many aspects gradually step by step, so it doesn't feel too overwhelming. Though nothing stops you from experimenting and figuring out mechanics before they properly introduced. I like this. One of those games that don't consider their player stupid. Huge respect.

Also developer actually listens the community and constantly releases small updates and bug fixes. It's nice to see how the game improves even further.

Short mention of gyro: Shady Knight supports mixed imput. I play with flick stick and it was super easy to set up with steam input. I'll share my layout for dualsense in case somebody needs it.

I haven't finished the game so I might edit review later (it'll probably stay positive, cause game is hella fun)

This is a great game! It's a short and atmospheric experience with gorgeous visuals and great music. The character controls feel very good.
And it's free!! How a game with this level of quality can be free?
Though I wish it was a bit more challenging, but it's personal preference. The game is still good as it is.

Looking forward for next project from this developer! Gonna buy if it won't be free as well

TLDR - The game is generally enjoyable if you like the aesthetics, but I believe there are many other titles that are worth your time and value it more.

My first playthrough was in 2024, so I understand that the game is 12 years old. However, there are many titles that hold up much better despite being older.

Cons:
- Lots of random generated guns could sound cool on paper.. 12 years back.. but in reality we have a large number of "meh" guns. You may not even find a decent one during your first playthrough;
- The level system and requirements make the situation with guns even worse. Even if you do find a decent weapon, you will sell it away soon, as it will no longer provide enough damage because of..
- Enemy level scaling..;
- Writing is stupid. Characters, story, side quests, jokes... While there are some hilarious jokes and side quests, most of it falls flat. "How Do You Do, Fellow Kids?" meme;
- Boss fights are just lame in this game.

Pros:
+ Some enemies are cool. In fact, I found most monster and robot-type enemies to be quite cool;
+ The style of the game makes it look good, despite its age. The visual design of everything, with a few minor exceptions, is excellent.
I wish the visuals weren't the only positive aspect of this game. However, they are, and that's how it is. Every other aspect has major flaws. It's not a bad game, but it's not enough to recommend it these days.
