Its so unfortunate to see the potential of the payday franchise treated like this.

I'll preface my comments by saying Payday 2 is my most played game on all systems. The main menu and UI is a mess. Why is it that when you try to purchase a gun from the loadout page, it takes you directly to the shop tab without a distinct transition? It leads to confusion as to whether the game is bugging or not when you select a weapon for purchase, hit accept, and then receive no feedback. I ended up buying 2 of the same gun believing it was just another bug. Not to mention that the market itself has no organization for the actual weapons. Secondary, primary, or even the types of guns are completely indistinguishable from one another. Why on earth are there tabs for every type of cosmetic item but all weapon, and weapon related items are bunched into one tab. Then, if you scroll down past your special preloaded weapon options, you find the deployables you can purchase for each heist. So they moved something that you simply bought on the heist prep screen to the hidden crevices of the market. Another issue with the heist screen is a complete lack of control. You were previously able to tweak your character very slightly for those who don't know.

I'm not a fanatic for looks, but considering there was nothing impressive gameplay wise, it was extremely disappointing that they spent their budget on a time machine to get graphics from a decade ago.

I don't love the new skill line system. I think it's enough to just say we went from skill trees and perk decks to the sad "skill lines", but they aren't even lines. The system works like a pyramid with one entry skill and several children skills. While I understand the game is fundamentally different with a different design philosophy (similar to the differences between payday the heist and payday 2), why would you get rid of melee weapons all together? They were just cool if nothing else. Sorry if it breaks your design ideals of realism, but would a baseball bat really be that much of a problem?

There are very few heists and our quality of life for the menus and gameplay has been set back to 0. Payday 2 had it's issues at launch and very successfully revamped. This is either a seriously distraught franchise, or they are trying to manufacture a repeat of the rebirth of Payday 2 for some convoluted marketing scheme.

Adequate game in general, but not for the price, and not for the hype it had.

This game is what happens when passion meets talent. To compensate for the lack of length, the depth thus far is just inspiring. I'm so hopeful for this game in the future. Not to mention, the writing. It's been forever since I've been able to go through cut scenes patiently because I'm invested.
