I say this with 16 hours and not fully finished the game yet (just finished chapter 7)
what are my thoughts in this game?
I should make it clear that I didn't buy this game, so even if I didn't like it - I wouldn't end up feeling cheated out of 40 bucks (or 20 if it were on sale)

This game is very visually and audibly appealing, the character designs and OST are beautiful, the characters are well written and you get attached to them along the way.

Now for the gameplay, the gameplay is genuinely so good - every part of it is well made and organized, it doesn't feel overwhelming and you know exactly what you're doing

however, mismanaging resources or going guns blazing will really screw you over later on, so use them wisely
there's something called AP, you get 20 per intermission (I feel like that way too little, but It's on purpose so you manage it properly), use them wisely - if you don't, later parts of the game will be harder for you

another thing, I heard this game was New game+ so here are my thoughts for an efficient playthrough:
- Try doing harder routes, but not always
Consider your first run as a "get-to-know" run, take risks and upgrade as much as you can
Don't be afraid to use the soul cannon but don't abuse it

- Soul cannon
As I previously mentioned, use the soul cannon - you won't be able to get the true ending first try,
there's simply too much to swallow and learn and you won't be able to beat it unless you already know the game from the ground up, which I doubt if you're reading thing this review

Try to not use it all the game, always consider it as a last option for when you think a boss is simply too hard
and you've tried multiple times (I spent 4 hours on the chapter 7 boss and decided to just shoot the gun)

and warning, this game WILL make you cry

This game needs no introduction I think, this game has become part of pop culture and is one of the best (and one of the most revolutionary) RPG of its time and to this day.

The game is full of life (but can be dull of life), the game is fun! (but can be saddening and eerie!)
You will laugh, or not smile at all

it depends on what you choose really!

this game will hook you in and get you invested for the characters and you'll feel them as if they were human
but do remember, you don't have to kill anyone to proceed :3

(and you shouldn't, chara will get you... and your soul.... will be hers to keep.)

Rain world, oh god.
I love this game so much, I used to have a love and hate relationship but then I decided to just do research
and I fell in a big rabbit hole and suddenly understood everything,
this game is genuinely so fun to pick up and play.
Seeing the wildlife exist and interact, while I try to do my own thing - trying to avoid death by running or attacking them, trying my best to fend them off
I thrive in the enviroment of the game, I feel like I belong.
I don't know how to explain really

I can understand why people may dislike this game, but this game wasn't built for the everyday casual gamer, but moreso those who deeply care about the art of the game, and the world that has been built, and no, I'm not gatekeeping; anyone can enjoy the game, but you are most likely to enjoy this game if you are passionate of games as art, not a product - not something to waste time, but to explore and learn from.
this game by itself is poetry and I'm glad its gotten the recognition it deserves

I have gotten the DLC, despite not even finishing the main game (and plan to get the watcher dlc when it comes out)

I'll update this review when I have experienced everything this game has to offer, well most things <3

ignore what others say: this game is not a competitor to DOOM Eternal, not at all.
I've played both games and these are two different games,
while both are very similar - such as being in hell, gore and even in some lore aspects
it's moreso a "competitor" to Quake , in the way that the maps are designed, and character moves/shoots

BUT the game holds up on it's own, although food for thought:

the game is very fun but difficult, especially if you want to play the proper way (in order to get a high ranking in style), you can play like any shooter but the game doesn't reward players who play in a Call of Duty type way

It wants you to jump, switch guns, do combos, do trickshots - in order to get a high score in style
you aren't punished for not styling directly (other than score/rating)

although you can always practice in the cybergrind, you can earn points to upgrade your guns and practice your movement (admittedly where I have spent most of my hours in this game) - I really recommend it and can't wait for a full release!

it makes the gameplay loop stay fresh and fun;
ONE THING:

This game got nominated for a reason.
it's such a great time killer, you can easily spend hours playing this game and find yourself wanting to keep playing more and more,
the game is simple but hard to master, if you want a simple pick game to pick up (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON STEAM DECK OR PORTABLE DEVICE SUCH AS A LAPTOP/NINTENDO SWITCH) this is the one.
the price is very worth it :3

AND NO, Don't pay attention to the PEGI 18 rating, this game doesn't contain gambling nor would it teach you poker, the game only uses poker hands and cards, but there's also tarot cards (special ability cards) and planet cards (upgrade poker hand level cards)

What are you waiting for? try it :3

This game is fun and all but, the lack of updates is just... eh.
I get that it's a solo dev and that this is just early access, it's been months since the initial release and nothing.
We only got like our last update in december 24th and nothing, since then one progress update in febraury
and I don't wanna be that guy but I'm growing impatient with the lack of updates
this game feels like it got popular and it came as it went

its been a month since our last update, I just hope something releases
I completely maxed out everything and somehow can't even defeat alot of enemies
and genuinely, the radio silence on steam is a bit scary
altho I don't follow the dev's bsky/X pages so I can't tell for sure if its truly radio silent

It's a good game, despite the stigma this game has - yk I expected this game to be this oversexualized adventure with how much people consider this their "gateway into fetish content" but this game is very tame and it only gets suggestive at times - I haven't really finished the game yet, although i'll do a review when that happens.

However what should be talked about is the difficulty and the lag.
The difficulty of them game is very harsh and can be unforgiving at times, you'll spend alot of time figuring out a puzzle, and suddenly die bc some scripted scene and you couldn't save - which can be very infuriating (it was infuriated me a bunch by now), it doesn't help the game can be weirdly laggy.

How come this computer I own can run 3d games just fine but it can't load most of changed at a smooth frame rate? most of my four hours was me just waiting for death scenes to finish and/or taking forever to finish a puzzle since it can be SLOW - which ruins the experience, sure I can upgrade my hardware but that's not always a thing people can do and with the graphics, I'd expect it to run well.
ESPECIALLY in the Special version, the lag is way more common on the special version than the original

like, I don't know - it rubs me the wrong way.
I'll spend 20 minutes in a boss fight that should last like 5 to 10 minutes bc of the lag
and same in general with some maps, it just annoys me and honestly, I probably won't try to attempt to finish the game until I can get better hardware since the game genuinely is so much harder with lag.

anywho, great game - rlly recommend

the art is beautiful and sometimes I'll die on purpose to see how the scenes will look and most of them endear me, like that tabby brown cat from near the beginning of the game
the puzzles can genuinely be hard but very fun
I recommend going on this game blind, it genuinely makes figuring out the puzzles much more rewarding :3

in my two hours of playing this game, and having the h-content off - I can say this game holds up well on its own, the game is very addicting and honestly more fun than any fnaf games released recently. I know it's very early access but even then, it's very good! althought the opengl version doesn't load correctly (it launches, stays at a black screen and crashes) but thats probably on my end.
I'm looking forward for more
