Really been on a downhill trend since halfway through the Tides trilogy.

Removal of SBMM earlier this year took this from a every night with friends game, to only 2-3 nights at most with alcohol to make it bearable. that was months ago and i ended up just not playing at all eventually because i was constantly ending up in lobbies with people who were 100% aimbotting, only coming back for events when the playbase was high enough that i'd only end up in hacker lobbies, 1/5 times due to population. please for the love of god bring back Skill based matchmaking, the player count just keeps getting lower over time because of this stupid change. a 3-4 star should not be in 6 star lobbies.

Now you go and mess with the UI? Jesus ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ christ the old UI was like 98% perfect just before this update, now this new UI is absolute Garbage.
- Skins in inventory based screens that are not owned, leading to accidental purchasing of skins thinking i own them.
- the ui is a confusing mess of having multiple screens to equip load outs from.
- lack of continuity from "the "loadouts" (pre set equipment sets) to actually gear screens, like, you got horizontal ♥♥♥♥ on loadouts, but vertical on the multiple actual gear equipped menus, just disorientating and confusing.
- filter settings always resetting.
- newly bought hunter not being selected after purchase.
- all the tile based ui BS is so confusing, like im trying to navigate netflix or something, it's all so large and in your face yet the actions buttons on the bottom of the screen are so tiny its easy to fumble for 10-15 seconds on what you need to do to interact with either figuring out how to navigate the menu or what button to press to do something.
- can't scroll wheel any menus anymore.
- skins not owned should only be in the shop.

Just give us the old UI back, it was weird to get used to initially but at least it was practical. This new one is way ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worse, not intuitive, menus just for other menus, its not intuitive what so ever. Did you even hire UX QA for this UI? Like, i got experience in this field, you can hire me and ill write you a proper report Crytek, including suggestions on how to save this train wreck.

🛠️ PATCH xx.xxx.xxx ⚙️
🔧 ⚠️ Emergency Hotfix

This patch is an emergency hot fix addressing the fun helldivers are experiencing. We Deemed it worth Nerfing several weapons in attempt to minimize the fun had during missions. Thank you for your understanding.

Enemy AI decided to just Phase through my walls.
Lack of UI Tooltips in understanding what benefits buildings provide.
Overall looks and feels less complete than gameplay in media reviews from over a year ago.

Lets list of the media covered ♥♥♥♥ first to appease a proper review

- incomplete features / missions at launch
- incomplete crafting system at launch
- functional cash shop at launch

Reasons I'm saying it's a Bad Game:
- Penances (achievements) encourage toxic game play styles. At least the class specific ones do at least.
- absolutely broken mission modifiers. tldr; play a mission with no modifiers, game server says, "LEL" yes in all caps. gives you hunting grounds + high intensity for ♥♥♥♥♥ and gigs so now your having to fight literal swaths of enemies non stop while slowly approaching your first chekpoint, while also listening out / looking out for plague hounds in packs that can literally team wipe you, all the while your running pretty low on ammo because you had to shoot so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people within the first 100m of the mission.
- 'Ten cent' majority owned (literally heartbreaking when i found out)

The only Pro:

- amazing OST, free on youtube.

A failed attempt to fill the void left by Banished.
There are many things wrong, but i honestly can not be bothered to open the game up and document them all so ill list off the top few after playing a few settlements to 50 years +. the biggest RED FLAG, no road map of the game features / additions / patching.

- laggy once you got more than 50 villagers, even on half speed there are times when the game just freezes for several seconds processing.
- iron is so late game it's valuable mid-game and worthless late game.
- you can't quarry for stone, stone is not a byproduct of iron / coal / gold mines
- i do not appreciate having my ears raped every 5 seconds because some villager is sick when i have nearly 400 villagers to look after.
- farms are tragically frustrating to manage fertility on, even if you plan a fertility neutral rotation of crops, it still goes down.
- can't plant or replant into an organised grid medicinal herb bushes, which means soap long-term is basically impossible, your villagers will constantly be sick, which consumes more medicinal herbs.
- you can't craft shields and hauberks from iron, you can only buy them from one of the traders at 400-600 a piece, also you can't make heavy tools which is needed to make heavy tools and melt iron and iron is needed to make heavy tools. so it can be hard sometimes to make that jump from mid-game to late game
- there are 4 different traders, only 2 will show up per year, at random, so good luck if your desperate for that one trader that has a 30% chance to stock medicinal herbs to keep your sickly population healthy because your map seed only generated 6 herb bushes.
- Wagons are semi-useful, they need to do more, functionally inadequate if all they do is just haul clay, sand, iron, gold and coal from mines back to your storage.
- the Grocer is useless, only 1 person can work there, which results in it barely being able to stock supplies for a few houses at best, which results in villagers spending up to half of the year walking around stocking their homes for winter rather than working their jobs.
- Laborers and builders are 2 different jobs, just remove builders and make laborers build.
- Soap, did i mention Soap yet?
- massive deforestation with no sustainable re-forestation
- work area circles are pointless, and just make buildings less effcient and require massive amounts of micro constantly without end, micro has to end and be replaced with other micros, not exist forever from minute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1. please just remove them and have the AI seek the nearest source of their work category. i'd rather have 4 hunters and 4 gathers seek the nearest source of game / pickable food without me telling them where to look and have to move their circle around 4 times a year because certain plants are only harvestable certain times of the year, resulting in the villagers standing around doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for months at a time
- farmers need to be laborers when they are not tending their fields
- farmers need to stop working on other farms and isntead focus only ont he assigned farms
- farmer assignment is bugged, i somehow had 90 farmers with only a max possible assignment of 70, nfi how 20 extra farmers got assigned but ok.
- farmers need to stop dropping crops in the middle of the field because, "oh it's coming into winter, gotta stop and leave this harvest ont he ground and stock the house". finish the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ job,
- coopers are needlessly slow to produce barrels, barrels loose durability too rapidly.
- lack of expected production vs actual production, no documentation of what resource is missing, often making it hard to track the bottlenecks.
- no option to automatically replant chopped trees for the orchard building.

I probably missed some things but these were the immediate ones that i could think of after being frustrated for the last 8 hours of my 18 hours of gameplay.

IF a dev sees this, happy to help you figure out everything that is wrong / lacking / needs to be fixed.

I can safely say after playing this game on and off for the past 6 + years from release, I would not recommend this game. Main Reason being the incompetence of the Devs. tldr;

- Long 6+ month interval between patches, with no hot fixing game breaking bugs inbetween major patching, we just got major content updates with some bug fixing from previous patches.
- a game that had potential, and the potential has been run into the ground by the incompetence of the devs.
- lots of game breaking bugs on maps that have persisted without change for years.
- broken promises on repeat.
- wasted 6 years waiting for this to be a decent FPS i'd wanted to play all the time.
- You could not play the game for a period of 2+ years if you had an AMD Graphics Card. Yes, it took 2 years for them to fix 1 asset that broke the game for anyone using an AMD GPU.

i could go on and on, but I've vented and reported these problems for years only to be ignored and not have any of the bugs i report fixed to be slapped int he face with new broken features and have old bugs resurface because of poor project management.

If your looking for a good FPS that is a middle ground between arcade and realism, this is not it. And i doubt it will be in the years to come.

EDIT Post additional hours sporadically and after the V6.0 Update:

game is hot garbage that proclaims "for realism" when it's realistic is your a fat american kid who has never touched a gun real or virtual before and have been given no instructions on how to aim / use.

It's not fun,
sometimes it wont start,
recent update has made the game play ridiculously difficult,
multiplayer is a coin flip when joining a server either you get in, or you have to restart the game and wait in que for another 30 minutes to an hour again to play with friends.
Game is very different from videos and screenshots in terms of game play and fun.
Frame rate often drops to 2 to 20 FPS when looking in certain direction on most maps, making an FPS with this quality is very disengaging from the experience,
can often crash when a game finishes or mid game for unknown reasons, especially if a server has an oopsie, all connected clients Crash to desktop.
No idea if my game meets minimum specs because i often get low FPS drops randomly, so i guess an NVidia 2080 that's watercooled to the shiz isn't good enough. along with a 10th gen intel CPU that runs at 5ghz per core also watercooled and 32GB of ram and the game is installed on an M.2 drive. Runs Cyberpunk 2077 just fine at 80+ FPS
I wish i could say i purchased this by drunk accident 6 years later, because it has been 6 years of pain staring at the bottom of the barrel.

I’ll keep mine simple:
- Garbage UI (had to use a couple mods to fix it)
- Some part of the game require micro management with no option to auto manage.
- Other parts of the game are simple af, such as fleet battles, just point and click and whoever has the bigger number wins 99/100 times
- The Research interface is garbage, it's not your standard 'Tech tree' and i had to look up player made tech trees to even know wtf was going on half the time. I even had to install a mod so that i wasn't limited to 5 or 6 out of up to 20+ choices per research roll (when you finish researching something you roll a new set of new things to research from the pool). This didn't make much sense because 2/3 of the research types has 11 repeatable researches so you’re only getting 6/11 each roll and the roll might not even have what you want.
- Administrative cap is a restrictive mechanic, it punishes you for expanding your space empire. i wound up downloading a balancing mod for this so that it was better balanced and reduced the punishment for expansion while rewarding you for creating colonies and building districts on them.
- The game does little to explain inputs vs outputs, ie. What # of item A gets turned into # of item B, had to install a mod for that.
- the base gameplay is a simple question of who had the better "strategy" and i say it like that because the default game mode has you expand, research and so on till the game abruptly ends and declares victor based on your rng placement with resources and gives bonuses for being part of a Federation (an alliance with other players or NPC's). so if you want a total domination game, it's there, but GL playing a quick enough game that you don't wind up in "waiting for repeatable research to finish so i can expand my fleet and crush my neighbours land, meanwhile the game is getting slower and slower, as it now takes 5 minutes for one in game month compared to <30 seconds when i first started the game on fastest speed"

TLDR; Game is flawed, the devs know it and continually release content rather than fix the underlying game imbalances and fix the UI to be easier to understand, instead you have to download mods to balance the game and fix the UI. Almost like how pirates sometimes fix bugs in game when they pirate it... sad to say. It’s a terrible game i have forced myself to play in hopes of eventually enjoying it as i have loved similar titles. in the end i give up, it's an afk alt tab grind fest that i found myself watching YouTube 80% of the time when i wasn't microing my colonies like a nutjob because that’s strangely the only micro in the game, which can't be automated or simplified either.
