I was admittedly nervous about the changes from Outer Worlds 1, but it's been delightful. I love how many different ways there are to complete something, how the companions feel like they actually care about the environment and outcomes, and how even failing at something gives meaning to an interaction. There are some bugs, none of which have been game breaking for me so I don't have too many complaints, but overall the experience has been stable. The story is really interesting, and the maps don't feel like vast wastelands between fast travel spots. I'm already planning out multiple play throughs, and that's really exciting.

I think a few things that suffer are:

- the backstories are kind of generic tropes and don't really provide anything outside of a dialogue option or two.
- armor, helmets, and food don't provide secondary functions. There are no skill changes or effects tied to consuming certain items, and all wearables only provide combat stats. There's really no reason to wear something not tier 3/gold at any point.
- i miss Spacer's Choice. It's not the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice. I know capitalism always devolves into a monopoly, but I miss hearing ads not from Auntie Cleo's. I didn't really engage with them more than I needed to in the first game so they're kind of overbearing to me. Which is the point, so I guess it works out.

Great stuff I really like engaging with:

- the perks are fun! there are a lot more and it feels neat to favorite them to plan out a build.
- the flaws are definitely game changing. Some of them are also really creative and interesting to unlock.
- the companions are neat. I legit love all of them.
- the customization options are fairly in depth and there's a lot you can do.
- launching the game after the first time makes me giggle.
- moon man.

i like the game and the style, but I do have a few issues. As a note: I have not completed the game, and these are my initial thoughts after leaving the first planet/tutorial zone.

1. Game crashes. It crashes roughly every 4 in game days, and almost always towards the end of the fourth day. I despise having to do a whole day over again. This is *really* killing the vibe for me and I don't think I could really stream or recommend this game to my friends/community while this is a consistent issue.

2. Fashion and decor are severely limiting. Nothing super cute aside from hats that are far and few between. And while it's neat that crew members unlock decor items as you get to know them, it feels like everything is locked behind that unless you want some vaporwave aesthetic furniture. I don't really. I would like to see furniture sets or styles unlock via a shop or have the 3D printer include rotating stock.

3. Timers. Some of the processing times for items and machines is insane. The timers quite literally kneecap you at times. I can understand the mid to high tier crafts taking 1.5 in game days or more, but the low tier stuff taking that long with no option to queue items up in machines feels like an abrupt stop to force your playtime to be spent on essentially just waiting around.

But!!! I have some really good things too!!!

1. Style. I love the style. It's still pixel art without being so focused on pixelation that things are obnoxious to look at. The colors are vibrant and really support the vibe of the art.

2. Music. It's so calming. I could lose hours just listening to the soundtrack tbh.

3. Characters. All of them are so unique and adorable. I love the cut scenes that develop each character, and how even the grumpy guy isn't extreme levels of doom and gloom. They all have worries and fleshed out feelings without ruining the overall theme of a cozy, chill game.

As a whole, this game is a great addition to the genre, and I'm really enjoying my time so far. I haven't reached mid/end game yet, but I'm super excited to do so. Once things have been tweaked a bit more and the game stabilized and balanced, I'm going to be telling all my friends to check this out.

Genuinely hilarious with moments of ~spice~ that really makes it come together in a well developed visual novel. The parts that are voice acted are excellently done and really sell the character and feel of the scenes. At this price point, it is an easy buy. I've completed one romance path (and multiple *dead* ends) and I'm so excited to keep going and see what the other paths have in store.

This game has been rushed and it really shows. There are so many bugs at any given time that it's practically unplayable.

I didn't expect to love this as much as I did. I picked it for a quick mini stream before my irl job and it was AMAZING! I need to know so much more about Tyrone and everything! Don't leave me hanging, Ithaqua! I need the details!

Sans is a comic. He's a Comic Sans. How could I not love this game?

And yes, there are definitely at least 7 dogs.

10/10

8-bit sims with less freedom, but good for killing time or pretending to take notes in class.
