Honestly this game is right up my alley but lack of analog support and 4K resolution kills it for me. Only recommended for keyboard warriors playing at 1440p or less.

Hidden gem right here. Isometric RallyX with a good handling model and good physics but easy to pick up and play for 10 minutes or a couple hours. I sometimes reach for a handbrake that doesn't exist, however it's not a deal breaker whatsoever. Love the animated style and personality of the cars and tracks. I hope the dev expands on the base he has created here with more RallyX, Rally, circuit racing/GT, Indycar/F1, Trophy Trucks, oh man there are a lot of possibilities and potential fun to squeeze out of this. Bravo, dev.

For some reason the devs thought it was a good idea to update this game to install Epic Online Services, and on top of that, the game doesn't even work in offline mode anymore, if you can get it to work at all. They did not provide an "Epic-free version" even though this has been a Steam game for 7+ years. They did not provide any actual bug fixes. In fact, all they did was introduce more bugs and Chinese spyware. Oh, they also did not bothering updating their Steam page to display the fact that third-party software (and what it is) is required, nor does it display the requirement of an always-online internet connection to play the game. Screw you, BBI and Gearbox. Flag and report this game as "harmful" to Valve and do everyone a favor.

Early Access Review
Great game with a LOT of potential. Extremely active (one man!) developer who responds directly to user issues on the forum.

Haven't played in a while, and likely won't for a while still, due to lots of updates rolling out (like the recent massive Faction Wars update), but that is personal preference as I usually only dip my toes into EA games to get a taste of what it's like, and prefer to play the "entire" finished product once it releases.

More Early Access abandonware. Never finished yet pushed to 1.0 and sold as a "finished" product.

It showed a lot of promise. I should have waited, and next time, I will.

Apparently I never reviewed this one...bit late but it's better than never.

Here we have the best MXGP game so far, but "Pro" physics are a joke, all "Pro" changes is the game will eject you right off of your bike for [what Milestone considers] the slightest over-jump. LOL!

"Semi-pro" is the good old MXGP physics without the BS. Most of the major reviewers are much too egotistical to even try "semi-pro" physics (because they are SOOoooo pro, you know) thus most of the negative reviews - including Youtube - reflect the opinions formed around the garbage "Pro" physics. Just save yourself ALL the hassle. Semi-pro physics are *exactly* the same as Pro physics without the awesome experience of being ejected off of your bike constantly for trying to land jumps that these riders easily land in real life, no problem.

No matter the physics setting (standard/semi-pro/pro), ruts and berms do not have the overpowered electromagnetic attraction that was so apparent in MXGP 3. You have to go almost too slow to hook a berm, and finding and catching ruts is a fools errand. Milestone needs to find a balance between the gravitational pull of the sun that was berms and ruts in MXGP 3, and the weak sauce that is ruts and berms in MXGP Pro.

Traction is less than past MXGP games, yet grip was too high before. Here you will need a semblance of throttle control wherein past games you could quite literally pin the throttle almost the entire time.
Again, FIND THE BALANCE, Milestone...

Whips and scrubs have never been better, and honestly anyone that complains is a newb (that probably hasn't completed the "tutorial" and unlocked better whip/scrub "technique") and should just shut up. They are better in this game than even Monster Energy Supercross (and MESX2), and certainly better than previous MXGP games.

Graphics have been improved tremendously, rain isn't absolutely terrible looking anymore, reflections are great. Animations are much better now.

You can no longer cheese the starting gate for guaranteed holeshots, and beyond that there are many more small and sometimes subtle improvements, which I won't get into here but if you are an MXGP fan you will notice them and appreciate them.

Bloom appears to be broken on Qatar/Losail, so if your FPS and performance tanks on that track, disable the bloom effect and re-enable it once you complete your races there.

Contrary to almost anything you'll read or hear about it, terrain deformation does in fact exist here, and it's pretty decent actually. However, as mentioned previously in regards to ruts and berms, it doesn't actually affect much...other than making you crash more often if you play with Pro physics. Ha...ha...

Because Milestone.

After the first patch I can now give a postive recommendation. Patch 1 fixed most (but not all) of my main issues with the game. There's still some improvements (and certainly bug fixes) that could be made, but even still it's probably the best motorcycle sim ever made, and I've played almost all of them since SBK 2001.

+ Front brake is mostly fixed, it's still a bit mushy, but it's an order of magnitude better after the patch.

+ Anti-wheelie has been fixed.

+ Force feedback has been improved.

- Gearbox still takes too long to shift and is not truly seamless (GP18 did it better).

- Resolution scaling still broken. Using DSR to work around for now.

- Online lobbies are often glitched and do not visibly show up and require a Steam invite to access.

Old review:

Can not recommend right now.

- Front brake is complete garbage, NO feedback at all, it feels truly arcade...like you can go full hard brake 100% with no problem. As if the bikes have full ABS.

- No seamless gearbox in GP bikes. Shifting takes way too long and unsettles the bike. How can you get this right in one game then fk it up the next?

- Anti-wheelie is stuck on no matter the setting. Like every Milestone game, they fk up anti-wheelie every single time.

- Resolution scaling broken. No excuse here, this is a basic Unreal Engine 4 option, how did you break this??

- Force feedback is sh!t. No rumble when losing traction, no rumble over curbs. Maybe you get a tickle when you do a header into a wall at 200 mph? Lol...

Hey y'know other than these REALLY BASIC THINGS that they somehow fkd up, there's a pretty good game here. But until all of that crap is fixed it's a no from me, stick to GP18 for now if you need a fix.

Easily the best MotoGP game so far in physics, sounds, and graphics. Unreal Engine 4 was a huge upgrade. The laser-scanned tracks are very accurate down to the bumps and inclinations. Unfortunately, I think the time it took to do the engine switch resulted in the rest of the game being watered down. I can give a cautious recommendation on this one. If all you are after is pure GP track racing and not much else, you should be pretty satisfied.

It's pretty bare on content. No managerial mode. No historical riders or events. Outside of the career mode on factory KTM Red Bull Rookie Cup bikes (250cc), Moto3 (250cc), Moto2 (600cc), or MotoGP (1,000cc) bikes you really only have access to Quick/Custom Race mode (which encompasses Time Trial and Grand Prix), and online multiplayer. Career mode with a custom rider forces you to start from the RBR Cup and work up to the premier class which is definitely a grind and I would have certainly preferred to skip the entry level classes and start at Moto2. Supposedly this is rectified for MotoGP 19.

No photo mode during replays. No helmet cam during replays (although you can race with it). The helmet cam is absolutely excellent but has a nasty yellow tint (to simulate the visor). This is unwelcome in my opinion and I would have appreciated an option to disable the tint. I have the same visor tint complaint with the RIDE games, also by Milestone. Give me options, please.

The live track map is absolutely GARBAGE because it is zoomed in much too close to be of any use for learning a track. The tachometer is an analog/digital hybrid eyesore, and if you disable it from the HUD, you can no longer view or access your TCS or Engine Brake settings, nor can you view your tire wear indicators...because apparently all of those *together* are considered the "tachometer" and it's all or nothing. So...stupid...

Multiplayer is a host-advantaged lag-fest as usual, missing tons of room settings, and is the usual Milestone brush-off affair. With a global sport such as this, people from all over the world want to race each other, so making one person (for example) in Spain a "host" for other racers in the USA, Asia, Russia, etc. is not exactly fair...especially if you cannot disable collisions. But it is cheap, so that's what Milestone does. Supposedly this will also be rectified for 2019, after years of complaining by the players; dedicated servers, Race Director settings, etc. are all promised.

The AI doesn't experience tire wear...but the player does (if enabled). This is a HUGE, HUGE issue and had better be fixed for 2019. Seriously, who was smoking crack in the Milestone office when they thought this would be okay? Everyone?

The AI seems to be somewhat unaware of the player and isn't cognizant some (most?) of the time in regards to player position and will [too often] swipe right into you and dismount you from your bike on corner entries, exits, straights...supposedly the AI is being upgraded big time for the 2019 version...

Yeah. At this point you should probably just wait for MotoGP 19 which is supposed to feature legendary/historical riders and modes, dedicated servers, machine-learning AI, etc.

I can still definitely recommend 18 on sale for $20 or less, as the physics are definitely at their top of their class and there's some enjoyable racing to be had here (if not sometimes frustrating due to the bad AI). Hopefully Milestone doesn't screw the physics up for 2019 and comes through with all their promised improvements.
