Early Access Review
Fantastic. Dark Souls, Diablo II vibes, and its still just alpha. A game for gamers.

True to Armored Core, while also being new and exciting. NG+ exists and offers levels and gear that can only be found there, along with NG++; exploring different sides of the main story line. It may be a little easier than I'm used to (with the ability to reload checkpoints with full hp and ammo), but you can increase the difficulty by fitting things other than the Zimmerman Shotgun, kek.

I mean its Fromsoft. Did you expect anything less than excellence?

This is what I wish Diablo 3 had been.

-----

You level abilities in the form of socketable gems, the skill tree is reminiscant of Final Fantasy 10, and there is no currency. There is not only a hardcore mode (no death), but an entire thriving hardcore / softcore community! And the gritty storyline, the voice acting..It is everything a veteran gamer could ever ask of a dungeon crawler, and more.

An example of what happens when the creativity of developers overvalues the productivity of sales. With limited resources, these developers managed to create an innovative and cutting edge concept with limited resources, and produce a game which has challenged its own genre. It is not unlike the original Blizzard and its titles when they nearly went bankrupt with each release.

Any company can sell a product and do "well" economically, but those with the wisdom to create a product that sells itself may then invest into that product with even greater return and ease than metrics can suggest. It is like the difference between swimming with a river and swimming against a river. The momentum of Path of Exile is undeniable, and deserves further investment.
