A really awesome hands-off god game. Especially good if you're an achievement hunter, as figuring out the "tech tree" and the achievements is great fun. There is also a persistent compendium of all possible items in the game, which gets filled up as you create/encounter the items during gameplay.

The only flaw I found was the fact that your civilization can stagnate if your guys found settlements too far from each other, because they'll spend most of their time constantly traveling between them. Pretty much the only way to fix this is to restart until you get a better map.

I think for this price there is enough content, though I definitely hope this concept will be expanded upon in a sequel.

A fantastic survival game. Definitely my favorite of the genre. Does not fall into any of the classic pitfalls of survival games, such as hunger and thirst bars that drain at ludicrous speeds, boring randomly generated environments, grindy tech trees and leveling, and lack of direction.

Instead, here we have a hand-crafted world with lots of cool stuff to discover, hunger and thirst bars that drain quite slowly, a simple tech tree that progresses as you explore and find stuff, and a well-executed main quest that you can work through at your own pace.

In addition, the game has awesome base building mechanics. There's a good amount of rooms and objects to build, and you can build as many bases as you want, and pretty much anywhere. The vehicles you can get are really cool as well, especially the one that is big enough for you to walk in, and which is basically a small mobile base.

Finally, the various sea critters are quite spooky, and will gobble you up with ease if you are not prepared, which is nice. Oh and you are pretty much unarmed. Stealth and speed are key.

There are some cons though. The game requires a fairly beefy computer to run, and there's a lot of object pop-in. I also had some annoying bugs every now and then. My biggest complaint however is that game is singleplayer only. I would have loved to explore this magnificent world with a friend.

Overall, the pros vastly outweigh the cons in my opinion. I would recommend this to anyone who either likes survival games already, or didn't like them previously because of their common problems.

Mech suits that look like Roman legionnaires fighting gigantic spider robots.

What more could you ask for?
