EDIT 3: 4300 hours on STEAM now, not counting BNET

No, it's not the best expansion we've had. No, it's not a narrative high point.

Bungie however has brought more than enough to the table with the sandbox changes and continues to be an industry leader in live service gaming. Destiny 2 still has the best gunplay, best PVE content, and exceptional movement and gameplay loops of any shooter out there. You can't get this experience anywhere else, and it has been often imitated but never captures the same spark Destiny has.

So no, this is not the best narrative Bungie has ever done, but gameplay wise - it's the best the game has ever been. People throwing a tantrum for a campaign they'll play once and never touch again is ridiculous and just goes to show you how outrageous people are. The game is fun, period.

People need to get over themselves, enjoy the game - it's still the most fun you'll have in games of its genre.

EDIT 2: 3000 hours on steam. I hate Destiny 2, it's my favorite game. For real though 2021 was a peak year for Destiny, the game is in the best spot it's ever been.

EDIT: We're approaching the 2000 hour mark on STEAM, and while D2 definitely has its flaws - the overall package still vastly outweighs any negatives. The new raid, Deep Stone Crypt, is fantastically designed - and while Season of the Hunt is definitely lackluster, the inclusion of Stasis as a new power, some great and awesome new Exotics like Lament, Cloudstrike, Hawkmoon (Bless), and new armor exotics for each class, make the experience great and rewarding. It's the best time to play right now, and while Sunsetting is dumb, thankfully they're keeping the weapons interesting - for now.


I've put now over 300 hours since coming over from Battle.net, as well as having played since Y1 on and off. Destiny has had its ups and downs - but it has been committed to providing a PvE and PvP experience that is both satisfying to play, and well rounded in its content.

Destiny is worth your time, and your support. Bungie has a long way to go in making the game less obscure to newcomers, but if you have access to resources, friends, and the time to understand each aspect of the game - you are going to be hard pressed to find a more satisfying looter-shooter out there that is supported and as well loved by its community and developers as Destiny.
