Seriously, try this game! I had friends recommend it to me for months, if not years, and I always put it off as "Yeah, it seems alright. I'll grab it eventually." Once I eventually picked it up though, it wasn't long before I was fully hooked.

While it may seem like things would get repetitive pretty quickly, Ghost Ship Games have done a stellar job at making sure things stay fresh. I just tried to write out everything you unlock and can customise along the way, and this review was getting way longer than I intended. So suffice to say: each class plays differently, each has three sets of different guns which play differently, you can eventually equip Overclocks which alter the way your guns work (sometimes quite significantly), there are several different mission types with lots of possible modifiers, and even more possible random events you can come across. Plus the caves are generated to be new with each mission.

All of this means that each mission feels unique and has unique challenges, playing each class requires a different approach that keeps things varied and exciting, and you can customise each class (and gun) a lot to suit your style. And I haven't even touched on all the cosmetics! I mean, a free battle pass where each item goes into the general loot pool once the season's over? And you can customise guns, your pickaxe, your hair/beard, your headgear, your armour, and the colours of all of the above? And there's a store (using in-game currency), assignments, the battlepass, and random loot crate spawns in missions which all get you cosmetics? YES PLEASE!

There's just so much to work towards, and so much that keeps gameplay evolving, and it's so damn fun to play! Killing bugs is always satisfying and they vary enough to keep you on your toes, switching up your strategy depending on what spawns and when. It's 10x funner with friends, but I've had a great time playing solo too (you're accompanied by Bosco, the most helpful little robot buddy in the world). And playing public matches is great fun too. The VAST majority of the community are very friendly, welcoming, and happy to give some advice or guidance to a greenbeard. I really can't recommend this game enough!

Never before has a game ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with my emotions in such a unique, and specifically Millenial, way. 10/10 made me feel like I was in high school again, in the best of ways

Although this game is quite short (I finished it in around an hour and a half) it has one of the best stories of any game I've played.
As I played, I learned about the Greenbriar family, and I really started to care about them. I was happy when I learned of their successes, and sad when I learned of their failures.

And the way the story is told, through discovering everyday items in an everyday (though very large) house, is very unique, and effective. I discovered the characters' likes, careers, and personalities through letters and personal items. I discovered the stories of all the characters, and all were very interesting. The main story was compelling, heart-wrenching, and ulimately very- No, wait. I shan't say how it ends.

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who loves a good story, and a beautiful game. You could probably get more time out of this game than I did if you take more time to read everything, fully explore every single room, and take in the atmosphere of the game. The regular $20 price tag is a bit steep for the time that I got out of it, and the time that most players got out of it, but if this game is on sale for $10 or less, don't even hesitate - buy it.
