The Culling can be an incredibly fun game at times, it rewards skill and practice. The initial difficulty curve is fairly steep though, it took me a few hours to be able to consistantly beat people in combat without a lot of luck. At first the combat felt very clunky and frustrating but with enough time it makes far more sense, just think of it as high stakes rock, paper scissors.

Patch-wise it's been a bit hit and miss, there have been a few that have upset people as mechanics and weapon balancing got broken. The most recent few have been solid though, fixing a lot of gameplay issues and improving the optimisation hugely. My FPS has gone from about 40 to over 60 on a 1440p monitor with a 280X gpu. I'm confident that the developers will have nailed the balance of the game on release.

Overall i'd say it's definitely worth the price, just look at the some of the play times of other reviewers that are over 100 hours, that's a lot of value. Many of the bad reviews seem to be from people playing a couple hours and getting frustrated. So long as you don't mind pushing through those first few hours to get a hang of the game I would highly recommend it.
