I love this game, it's got some similarities with games like FEZ where the game is cleverly layered but it also had a fun metroidvania twist.

This is a perspective by someone who's finished the first game + all DLC
+ Completed this game with, including the "golden door puzzles"

The Talos Principle 2 re-invents the formula by introducing new puzzle elements every now and then.
This is both a blessing and a curse as it is very enjoyable to learn the new mechanics, but you never really feel that you've mastered it before the next puzzle element is introduced.

I give this game a solid recommendation for those who are looking for a somewhat challanging puzzle game. The difficulty is comparable to the original game if you exclude the side content (
star puzzles + star worlds & Road to Gehenna).

From a story perspective, the game has matured a bit and doesn't feel as lonely as the first game.
There's still a lot of reading to do, but it's optional.

It's a beautiful and fun game, with charming music, that left me longing for more content.
I hope there's a DLC coming in the future and that it includes a few more difficult puzzles (and maybe a VR-version... pretty please?)

Overall a very solid puzzle game!

Relaxing game, it feels very pleasing to finally understand how to solve some of the puzzles.
Very similar to The Witness

The plot and encounters in this mod are just spot on!
There are a few things I disliked, such as the visual effects in the first chapter and some of the levels looked like they needed a little more visual polish.
But all in all it was just a joy to play, and I strongly recommend this mod to any fan of the Half-life games.

This is a review/list of a 2 player Co-op experience (not split-screen) of the Enhanced Edition (without mods) played around a month after the release without any prior experience of any Divinity game. We played the entire game with keyboard and mouse on both computers.

Character creation, roleplaying, exploration and story.
  • + The characters are shaped during the travels allowing you to diverge (if you want) from the class you created at the start.
  • + Reading books, letters and listening to NPCs reward the players taking their time doing those kinds of things.
  • + LOADS of side-quests with varying components such as VIP-escort, bosses, storylines for your mercenaries, puzzle solving and rollplaying (duh!).
  • + There's voice acting for (almost) all the dialogues in the game.
  • + (Co-op only) You and your Co-op friend may disagree on matters in the story and this will change your characters traits in different ways, giving you different bonuses based on what you reply.
  • + (Optional) The Tactician Mode offers a fun and innovative harder playthrough where the enemies have new tricks up their sleeves.
  • + (Optional) The Honour Mode = Permadeath + Tactician Mode combined. No resurrection scrolls, saves over your one and only saveslot when someone in your party dies and deletes your save if both your main characters die.
  • ~ The Puzzle elements in the game can both be fun and frustrating at times.
  • ~ We didn't even use half of the spells in the game, yet somehow we felt like there were spell classes not even present in the game.
  • - Keys/arrows/books will clutter up your inventory and it's hard to keep track on what to keep/throw so you might end up keeping them all in a bag. Maybe a keychain & a quiver would be an alternative.
  • - Renaming/customizing bags so that you can identify what is inside without opening it would be a nice addition.
  • - Got stuck HARD on one of the quests due to the way we wanted to play. Minor spoiler warning. "The Councillor's Wife"-quest forces you to break in and steal things. We were trying to play without stealing/breaking in anywhere, but it seems to be the only way you can do it.

Combat.
  • + The elemental system offers alot of options in fights, puzzles and character development.
  • + Enemy encounters feel challenging throughout the entire game.
  • + A large variety of enemies to encounter. (which gets even better in Tactician Mode!!)
  • + Being able to sort your spells and action items into 5 different "hot-bars" is a life saver later on.
  • - Selecting enemies during fights can be a pain because you might miss them due to their animations.
  • - From time to time the enemies and other NPCs don't know what to do during a fight so they just stand around and skip their turn after ~10 seconds.

How does it look? What does it sound like?
  • + The massive 7 hour soundtrack was one of the biggest surprises for us, it is very enjoyable.
  • + Refreshing environments in contrast to many games that go for the gloomy look.
  • + It's easy to see what is going on when you're in combat or out adventuring.
  • + A smart system that makes things see-through where your characters are.
  • + Great and easy to use camera controls.
  • - The cinematics could use a visual overhaul.
  • - A few times in the game uninvolved NPCs won't shut when you are fighting.

Options and performance.
  • + We didn't experience a single software-crash during the entire game!
  • + The option menu included everything that we wanted to change, including a sound mixer with the following sliders available: FX/Music/Ambient/Voice/Cinematics and Master.
  • + Has built-in support for mods. However, there aren't that many mods available at the time of writing.
  • + Includes a variant of borderless fullscreen called "Fake Fullscreen". Jumping in and out of the game is as fast as you'd expect from a borderless feature, but it will minimize as soon as you're clicking on something outside the game.
  • - The top part of the UI doesn't show the correct values such as your health, the turn order and which buffs/debuffs you and your enemies have been exposed to.
  • - Both of us experienced sound problems in certain areas of the game: King Boreas' treasury and right outside Icara's Ice Prison.
  • - (Co-op only)Sometimes the game won't show (or even load) the same data for both players.
Examples: The second player won't see the correct animations, what gear anyone is wearing, your stats might go back to 5 on each point and/or it will show you that you don't have full health even though you do.

The Verdict.
9/10
A fantastic co-op game that makes you look at the clock and say: "woah, have we really been playing this for 8 hours straight?" and then play some more.
Great value, it really had everything we were looking for and more.
The only reason not to get this must-have-game is if you're an impatient person.
We can't wait until Divinity: Original Sin II gets out of Early Access!

The Good.
  • Smooth framerates through the entire game even on this 5 year old mid-tier computer.
  • It's a pretty game, simple as that.
  • Modern Sonic feels as good as ever.
  • The Music is amazing allthough most of the tracks are remixes that isn't necessarily a bad thing but there's a few tracks that isn't my style at all (I'm looking at you City Escape -_-')
  • Simple and intuitive progression through the game (Except for the mini-challanges).
  • The modding community has given this game a second life
with a special mention going out to the Unleashed Project.
  • The Concept Art with included notes (in english).
  • Didn't crash a single time throughout the entire game.

The Bad.
  • Classic Sonic feels better than in Sonic 4: Episode 1 but it's still not hitting the spot just yet.
  • The time it takes to complete the story-mode levels is abit on the low side.
  • The "Storyline": there isn't much of a story at all.
  • I didn't enjoy the small challange levels and I would rather have paid for the Unleashed-project to be included in the game with proper progression support instead.
  • I didn't find the power-ups on Planet Wisp to be enjoyable but they are working and not really frustrating.
  • The Quicktime moments were not up to par with other recent Sonic games.

The Ugly.
  • No native support for the PS4-controller and setting it up so it actually works has to be done with third party software as far as I know. I used the program TocaEdit X360 Controller Emulator.
  • On several occations the game didn't register jump presses which is a big thing in a game that is supposed to "go fast". This is something that happens with both classic and modern Sonic. (this might have something to do with the PS4-controller thing i mentioned above or that my computer is old.)
  • The Level Crisis City has 2 horrible game elements for Classic Sonic which I personally think is a big no-no!
Winds blowing at a constant speed against you at the end part of that level, combine that with the unresponsive controls from time to time and you'll be falling into a pit of death more often than not.
The Fire tornados on that map is abit sketchy and I think its hard to see if i'm going to get insta-killed or if i'm actually gonna make it.

The Verdict.
6/10
I still think that it's a bit much for a game that you run through in a few hours without any other supporting content to back the game up.
Get Sonic Unleashed or Sonic Heroes instead.
