Dropped 40 on this game because I enjoy Roleplaying Games and playing with friends. My friends are in a server that is full. The devs disabled character creation on it.

Ok. So I will still play, as a solo player. I haven't gotten to the gameplay yet, but half of the criteria for deciding to make this purchase is already gone. I hear that server transfers are coming, so if it's a 1 and done ticket/chance for every character to use once I will save mine.

I'm hoping the gameplay is satisfying enough for the solo grind to keep me sucked in. Of course I will make friends a long the way.

But Amazon should have the server resources where all of these issues shouldn't exist.

Am I disappointed? Yes.

Will I put all my open-mindedness into enjoying the game anyway? Of course.

If the devs get their proverbial ♥♥♥♥ together, I will edit/make a new review.

After almost 100 hours of playtime I have been swayed. It's a great game. The world is beautiful, the questing is fun and interesting, and trade skilling on the way to and from quests never gets old. I love how my build is turning out.

Just completed the Starstone dungeon, it was a lot of fun.

Level 40 and so sucked into the grind.

Haven't really gotten into the PVP side of things, waiting till end game for that.

Issues: Invisible wall due to wars blocking quest NPCs is braindead game design. I'm sure that will be fixed in due time.

Still no transfer token yet but I'm sure that'll drop soon.

Need some sort of macro to switch gear sets on the fly. Really annoying to look through 30 pieces of gear to find my skinning set inbetween high level mobs because I need to skin this high level wolf right now or else 1 I get attacked by other mobs if I take too long or 2 some asshat takes my skin. Too time consuming. If gear sets are gonna be in the game for trade skilling, def gonna want a way to put them on in a pinch, especially with all the resource goblins lurking around.

cant really think of much else.

So far 7/10. Great game. Looking forward to playing a less buggy version, and in a year when they've sorted all the issues out it might end up being a 10.

Came back for the Fresh Start servers, and it has been an absolute banger. Name an issue you had with the old New World and it's probably been reworked. Put in another 100 hours and the end game grind is tremendously engaging. New zone? Absolutely nutty. The server is booming. Players everywhere to farm rare spawns for named drops or help out with elite area quests. Greatsword? Lava hot sicko mode.

Rise of the Angry Earth Expansion/Season 3

I think I will always come back to New World. It's sad to think about, but I feel a very heavy spot in my heart for the development and community management teams. I think they are clearly passionate and love their game as much as we do. To see the MTX of the game, it makes me feel certain feelings. But I think about games like PoE and Lost Ark, and then I think about the MTX in this game. It's not a pure mmo, the battlepass shows that. The gearset wardrobe purchases show that. But what most of us want is an interesting and fun western mmo that isn't WoW. I think New World is doing this nicely. I will keep coming back for seasons/expansions.

On the Battlepass: If you've played fortnite, you've seen how their battlepass has grown over the years. It went from oddly specific and strange challenges, to very simple and easy challenges. You can play the game normally and level it up as well now. They've migrated towards a more player friendly pass that is easier to level through, but they've also added a giga grindy component to get everything way later in the pass.

If you've played Halo Infinite, you've seen the worst battle pass there is. Very specific challenges with a long CD on new challenges, and you barely make progress. The main shop items are pass skips.

The problem with the fortnite pass is actually the best thing about it, cosmetic only. In a game like fortnite, where there is 0 p2w(aside from arguably some girl skins back in the day) if you don't like the skin selection that season there isn't much incentive to grind it other than the players own sense of completionism.

I think New World has a good balance, for what its worth. I used to buy all the shop mtx, but now i don't wear anything but my gear. I don't think I'll be buying any tmog tokens, but I've already bought an extra wardrobe set, and the premium pass. Does an mmo have to be pure and strictly lacking MTX to be good or fun? I don't think so. I don't think it's a bad thing to let some players interact with the MTX they want to, or none at all, and play the game.

In all honesty, I think the card system in the season pass is pretty fun. Another interesting and simple way to get pass xp, that's easy. The mount is cute, I love her already. Can't wait to max out riding. The flail is fun, love seeing big dots. I'm excited to try out new builds and really have fun in New World again. The new story is pretty cool too. Fun to see something grounded and simple other than the crazy eastern mmo stories, and ridiculous WoW story.

The gameplay feels good. That's what matters most. Gearing up is simple and easy, less perks to worry about. Not sure about the pvp side of things, that ♥♥♥♥♥ is for nerds.

After nearly 500 hours, I have realized the game isn't fun.

To stay competitive and continue to push past 1400 you have to complete most of the in-game systems daily. Sailing around in a ship shooting jellyfish isn't fun. Sailing to a ghost ship to fight a ♥♥♥♥ tier boss isn't fun. Fighting ♥♥♥♥ tier world bosses in the hopes you get a drop you need aren't fun. Adventure islands aren't fun. Collecting mokokos isn't fun. Redoing MSQ because you need to push a 5th/6th/7th alt to help push your 2nd/3rd/4th alt to help push your main isn't fun. Playing other classes you don't enjoy isn't fun, especially when they aren't geared, which takes a lot of time and grinding or a swipe. Doing most of the daily content at specific hour marks and trying to fit in grinding for mats isn't fun. Guardians are boring. They took away the Naruni vendor even though they let us farm mats up till reset when the vendor disappeared is brain dead. No eastern game with a vendor with specific currency I've ever played has just permanently nuked both the vendor and currency in this way after letting you farm currency up to the nuke. Braindead.

PVP is pretty fun, ngl, but I'm here to raid with my guild and the pvp rewards are too expensive and too little to make a dent in my hones.

It seems like to get to the actual game I want to play, I have to do all this BS every damn day, just to play the game.

Sure I could swipe, but that isn't fun. I like grinding and earning my power, but this game's grind isn't fun.

People will say this game is "Alt-Friendly". It's not. It forces you to play alts. I just want to play my main. But honestly you can't do that if you want to stay relevant, especially with the RNG honing component, which would be fine if my main could generate more mats.

The game has so much potential but it's not for me.

Truthfully, it's for PVPers, no-lifers who are down to daily a ton of ♥♥♥♥ tier content, and swipers.
