Man, what an incredible game. It’s easy to see why it’s regarded as one of—and perhaps the best—Far Cry titles. The beautifully crafted island setting creates a paradisiacal yet perilous world that immediately immerses you, inviting you to explore its hidden secrets.

While the gameplay might feel familiar to longtime fans of the series, this installment serves as a seminal example of the formula Ubisoft. From scaling towers and tracking wildlife to gathering rare plants for upgrades, every mechanic feels meticulously designed to reward exploration and experimentation. Each element not only contributes to the game’s dynamic pace but also enriches the overall experience, ensuring that you’re never bored during your journey.

At the heart of the game lies its narrative, centered on Jason’s compelling character arc. Initially introduced as a pampered youth, Jason’s evolution—prompted by pivotal moments and the insightful words of characters like Liza—is portrayed with nuance and depth. His transformation, though marred by darker turns reflective of his turbulent journey, remains profoundly meaningful. It’s surprising that some players overlook the complexity of Jason as a protagonist, especially when his path echoes that of the iconic antagonist, Vaas. An additional point worth noting is the technical performance of the game. While it shines in design and narrative, those with modern, multi-core processors might experience performance hiccups. In my case, I had to employ Process Lasso to limit core usage, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience. This workaround is a small price to pay for an otherwise outstanding title.

I found Tekken 8 to be a lot of fun, even as someone who isn't usually into fighting games. This was actually the first game in the genre that made me want to keep playing. Although I haven’t had the chance to play in recent months due to life getting in the way, my initial impression of the game was very positive.

That said, I can’t confidently say how the game holds up today, as there seem to be quite a few negative reviews about its monetization practices. I’d recommend checking out other recent reviews to get a clearer picture of its current state.
