TL;DR: Buy this game, Buy the DLC's, these Devs are cooking a gourmet meal, and have been for a long time.

I've played this game with a friend ever since before the Quality of Death update, and I can firmly say that every single addition they add is golden. I originally discovered this hidden gem of a indie game from a Kaif Stream highlight video that another friend sent me. I was on board with the punishing gameplay and variety of playstyles, (especially once you buy the reasonably priced DLCs, them being 4 bucks for 4 races and classes.) and it hooked me with it's rewarding difficulty curve, every sound, every enemy I became more and more familiar with the things they represent, and as my skill increased, so did the progress I had.

I loved the different ways to interact with the world, with the tutorial being practically necessary as you will be clueless without it. the different magic being useless in some situations but practical in others, the different things you need to consider when picking different classes and races, the Achievements being some of the best parts of the game!

Listen, if you shudder at the mere sign of dying in a game's tutorial, or being unable to get past this game's first level, it's not for you... BUT, if you like the challenge of figuring out ways to beat enemies, deciding whether to go for the secret levels for the exclusive loot or to play it safe, and having a blast with friends, get. this. game. Buy the DLC's too! this game is worth it.

unlike most people, I knew of, and played, D:OS2 before Baldur's Gate 3 came out. Know this: if you are expecting a Baldur's Gate 2.5 from this game, you won't get that. instead, the "Classes" are loosely defined, even moreso than Baldur's Gate 3, where you can allocate various stats into your character on level up, there also being various "Skills" stats, where the game allows full customization of what you wear, what skills you spec into, and what you want out of your character. Talents also deepen your character, where there's Racial Talents, but also on certain levels you get Talent Points to get various bonuses... for example, you could spec into more points (All Skilled Up, Mnemonic, Bigger and better), be able to defy Death once per Revive (Comeback Kid) be able to crit on spells (Savage Sortilege, also ♥♥♥♥ you Gort) and much, much more.

For beginners: Memory is a VERY important Stat, as it allows you to equip more Skills at a time, some skills even needing 2-3 memory. also, there's a mirror on the bottom of the ship you're on in Act 2 where you can respec your skills.

TL;DR: if you like RPG's even just a little bit get this game, it's so fun...
