I thoroughly enjoyed the original Mech Builder 2D and stand by my comments regarding the generative AI usage in the DLC of that game. Gen AI is inevitable and sucks the developer used it in the game.

That being said, they have come out and stated there is no generative AI in this game. The awesome part of it being 3D instead of 2D is that the fun of building Gunpla without the price tag is amplified by the 3D aspect and the ability to not only kitbash, but pose your models however you'd like, even to absurd degrees. I look forward to diving more into the game and building more kits but the short time I have played up until now has been a great time and made me yearn to build Gunpla again.

I built mecha while waiting for IRL mecha to come in the mail.

If you care so much about the AI usage that you can't overlook it for a game that is solid at its core, then don't buy the game and don't support the developer. It's very clear the designs used for some of the models are wish/Temu renditions of other, copyrighted works already.

Can't wait for Mech Builder 2.

Not sure what the other reviews of this game are on about it being a copy of Roboquest but the game is a lot of fun. The weapon system is fun to mess with and recycling weapons to turn them into mods is a nice touch that keeps runs interesting and cores makes for different playstyles in way that really doesn't make one more effective than the other.

The only "similarities" are that weapons reload automatically when not in use ad it's a shooter.

Ignore the trolls not recommending this game because of 2 extremely common mechanics that are not unique to roguelike shooters.

Early Access Review
The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cacti and thorn bushes hurt me more than anything else.

This game can and will run on anything from a toaster to a PC that's 12 years old, to the highest end gaming rig.

In 4 hours, the only bug we ran into was one of us would randomly not have out mic work in game until the next lobby. NBD as discord exists in the year 2024.

No friends? Same. Guess what? The game is entirely playable solo.

There are 3 biomes used the in the current 6 "maps" you have to choose at this time. It's early access, let them cook.

10/10 some of the most fun I've had in a while and if that shadow jerk grabs me again, I will scream.

Is this game dumb? Yes. Was it the most hype part of a 6 hour long stream of other games? Also yes.

I give it an Egg/10

Nothing is more terrifying than working for a large corporation that adds more tasks with less pay.

This game has a great atmosphere and the scanning and other additional tasks in the game are simple enough to get a grasp on. The ending of the demo is a nice twist that has me looking forward to the full release.

This game USED to be a blast and I spent hours mindlessly playing it when it first launched.

Fast forward to now when I reinstalled it and tried to play it again only to see $100 in DLC?!?! Removing features??? dude, what level of greed took over and made you want to ruin what was an excellent and fun game?

I can no longer recommend this game in its current form. 8 years ago? absolutely! now? absolutely not!

10/10 you farm and do stuff and can also do stuff with your friends too if you have those.

Update 2022:

I'm still playing this game and have purchased it a total of 5 times across several systems and have even gifted this game to people. There is something about this game that you just can't get anywhere else. I would buy this game another 5 times if it continued to come out on future gaming systems.

10/10, Keep taking my money and expect me to buy the next game another 5 times or more.

I could not recommend this game to my worst enemy. The story is wondeful and the art style is great but the actual gameplay is god awful.

Your character moves like he weighs 400 pounds with a big mac in his hands and any time there is a timed event that will cause death, you will die until he finishes those damn burgers and actually moves at the speed required.
combat with the fireaxe is horrible beyond belief. 90% of the time Randall shoves instead of swinging and on the off chance he does, you might as well have used a pool noodle.
There are random points where he won't grab onto ledges that are easily within jump distance and other times where he suddenly learns to fly to reach ledges nowhere near where you jump.
There are occasions where Randall won't do the proper action and will either jump in place or leap you do your death because he read some arbitrary movement as meaning "Kill me, please."

I am at the very end of the game and have to force myself to finish just to get it done and over with so I never have to touch it again. This game is an exercise in futility and aggravation.

I'm neutral on what to give this game because of many reasons. I only found out about it on accident because I searched for some A7X to listen to on Spotify and a game soundtrack came up as the first album and I was confused. Didn't even know they came out with a game.

Pros:
Difficult but enemies are easy to work around
Kickass soundtrack with a mix of videogame sounding tracks and instrumentals of A7X songs during boss fights
Dying gives and instrumental of "A Little Piece of Heaven"
Colorful
The Rev is directly referenced 3 ro 4 times right fromt he start
Reminiscent of Playstation era games

Cons (Oh boy, here we go):
MOBILE PORT (Which is a dollar cheaper)
Difficult only in the "There is no health anywhere to be found" kind of way (There are potions and some small health drops but you can refill mana at pools but not health, not even in the main Hub area)
MOBILE PORT
Enemies can be easily killed with mana and will sometimes stun them
MOBILE PORT
Controls are clunky
"Touch the skull to pause the game" is a quote from the tutorial
No voice acting so have fun reading everything, even the cutscenes
Pressing escape closes out the game entirely and you lose your prgoress in a level when you go to hit escape, which is 99% of the time, the pause button
Unholy Confessions plays during. Every. Single. Miniboss Fight which are all boring and can be won easily by spamming the magic attack as mentioned above

Big fan of A7X and all but this game is nowhere near worth the current price for what it is. Get it on iOS or Android and save the dollar or wait until this goes on sale. They could have done much better with porting this to PC. Either that, or they should have just kept it on mobile if they were going' to be this lazy with it.
