The upcoming Season 22 update for Apex Legends has introduced new monetisation features that are frankly disappointing and overly aggressive. The pre-order option for the battle pass, which includes additional rewards like 50 stars, feels like a blatant cash grab, pushing players to spend more money upfront for minimal benefits. This move seems more focused on extracting money from players rather than enhancing the gaming experience​.

Furthermore, the battle pass content itself continues to be filled with lacklustre cosmetic items that don't offer real value. The grind to unlock legends remains tedious, requiring significant playtime, which is particularly discouraging for new players. This update does little to address these ongoing issues, making the game feel more like a monetisation tool than an enjoyable gaming experience.

In essence, Season 22's updates seem to prioritise revenue over player satisfaction, which could further alienate the player base and undermine the game's long-term appeal.

Whilst I played this game for the free trial period, I simply couldn't recommend it to anyone.

An interesting concept but the experience felt degraded by the presence of essentially a battle pass, huge grind for characters, locked non-licensed characters and in-game micro-currency.
These sort of things I feel do not belong in a paid-for game.

Sure, a free-to-play (though that brings it's own issues of toxic 12y/o players) game. But definitely not something you would pay £15 for and a lot more in DLCs/micro-transactions.
(For reference, I could buy the game on sale right now for £5.99 and then *potentially* spend another £68.10 to get the full experience of all characters I can straight-up buy. At most, £3.11 if I wanted them individually).

A must get for anyone with a lot of time and who enjoys a bit more of a challenge!
