Coming back to this DLC after four years, I have to say, the final Rzhev Offensive is one of the most satisfying yet still challenging campaign scenarios I've played to date. All the struggle and sacrifice from the previous scenarios culminate in the final decisive victory for the Red Army, eliminating two entire Panzerarmees and pushing the frontline back 500 kilometers all the way to Byelorussia. I can't help but wonder how differently the war on the eastern front would have played out had the Red Army actually achieved all their goals in the winter of 41/42. OKH certainly would not have had the resources to replicate the real life success it managed in the summer of 1942.

I must admit I did not enjoy this DLC when it first came out, having been used to the incredibly flexible Allied units, Soviet 1-specialist divisions completely flipped the script on the type of operational strategy necessary to achieve breakthrough. But the DLC aged like fine wine along with my knowledge of the game, after finishing the Berlin DLC on the hard difficulty, Moscow 41 on Classic made me feel at home with the amount of loses to expect. And it felt incredibly liberating to be able to afford +5 arty and +4 armor again without breaking the bank. Artillery Preparation remains the single best card of the game with its ability to completely change the balance of power at sections of the front of your choosing. The seemingly weak Soviet tank brigades become powerhouses capable of rivalling their understrengthed German elite armored counterparts after merging the 3/4-step units and attaching to them KV-1s and T-34s. The cavalry divisions with their unmatched mobility in snowed-in forest and 2 armor make them oh-so flexible and surprisingly deadly when paired with additional tank specialists.

To conclude I just want to say well done to the devs for giving us such a unique campaign! Replaying Moscow 41 is in my opinion the perfect conclusion to the battles on the eastern front and I look forward to the next addition to this best-in-genre franchise!

Love the three specialist change for the Soviets! Mobile 5 arty + arty preparation is ridiculously fun and broken, in a good way! One nitpick I have is the Take 100 Prisoners objective of the final Berlin scenario, if you spec out your troops too much and don't wait for the out of supply units to bleed out then it's very hard to actually find 100 prisoners to take before destroying all the units. First world problem lol

Another great campaign! Soviet tank corps are finally able to match their German counterparts with the help of Katyusha and Artillery Preparation. Watch the SS melt under the infinite Red Army rockets!

Another great addition to UC2! Panzer divisions are as always tons of fun to command, and the Italian trucked infantry are surprisingly mobile and useful
