Fast paced shooter with high speed and just feels cool as hell to play. I got it on discount, but if I knew what I was getting, I would've paid full price still.

Overall a very fun and challenging game that can really push you to do some in-depth thinking, trying to give yourself the best chance to survive the turn, as well as progress the overall fight.

In my 20 hours at review time, I only have 5 runs, with a 6th started. First run died in the first arena, second made it to the third arena boss and died, and the rest made it to their respective ends.
I spent a long time on each run thinking how to play the fights, manoeuvring around the enemies to dodge their attacks while also hitting back or causing them to attack each other. It was overly thoroughly enjoyable thinking it all through, almost like a puzzle game embedded into a roguelite, similar to how Into The Breach felt. The puzzle aspect really brings out the critical thinking and makes it much more enjoyable.

My only issue with the game is that I wish there was more to play. Higher difficulties just increase the enemy's numbers, and you'll unlock all the cards available in the game within a few runs, so it feels like there's not too much to keep playing for once you've beaten it. There are some different classes to start with to help add some spice between runs, but I think that only takes it through the early game.
While the game has a workshop, it appears to be purely cosmetic mods. I would love if there was a way to add more content to the game with mods.

I definitely would 100% recommend the game despite the issue I've mentioned. While it's not the same as other roguelites where you will come back for a hundred+ hours, the 20 hours I put in were thoroughly worth it, and I still plan to spend more after this review.

Super cheap, yet super good. Pioneered an entire trend/genre of games.

Got it from Humble Bundle, so I didn't pay full price.

The game is actually surprisingly good. I was expecting something I'd play for 2 hours then be like "Cool game."
But it actually works quite well. Maps are nicely made, not just a flat plain with the occasional object to give it some semblance of life.
Dense city, tropical forest, desert plains, rocky deserts etc. About 15(?) levels, not including survival mode.
You can actually destroy buildings and collapse them in directions in order to block the road, so at some points, you realise you can make a path and save some power for further extension rather than blocking off that path from before, or just upgrading towers.

The turrets do not have a large variety of upgrades compared to some tower defenses, but the maps aren't astronomically long (such as being 30 waves when you've made your layout after 5), so the "lack of variety" never actually comes into place. You have the towers you need to do what's needed.

The fact you have 4 different weapons with alternative firemodes is quite nice, adds a bit of complexity (though mostly comes down to "Trash, use W. Tanks, use X." etc), but it still works quite well and with the story being only a moderate length, it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

I would recommend this for £15, though getting it for cheaper or with an offer is obviously a steal, and I'd definitely say a must have for say £5. (as I write this, the game is currently £3.74, -75%)

TL;DR
The game, while not the most in-depth tower defense ever, is certainly a welcome addition, and does what it does very well. It's fairly simple/shallow, but doesn't overstay its welcome as maps are about 20-30 minutes long then you move to the next.
I recommend this game, but if it's on deal, then I'd say absolutely get it.

From playing the old school games, to playing the new updated version with a lot of variations and customisation, absolutely worth it.

Early Access Review
Playing this compared to the original AutoChess and TeamFight Tactics, this feels like the lesser of the three.

The UI feels really janky and cluttered, and horrible unoptimised. The game feels very much made for mobile, and then ported to PC, with super large icons, whole-screen taking popups etc.

Until it's made to actually be a PC game, and not a port to PC, it's definitely low on my list.

Riddled with Microtransactions to the point they stopped developing single player content because they had the microtransactions for multiplayer, and they can't put them on single player.
Also said that they weren't pushing microtransactions enough when they already have a ♥♥♥♥ load.

Also, pretty much banned modding on their games.

One of the best free to play games I've played.

They've obviously got to make money so there's micro transactions, but this feels like a game that was designed around being a game, with the way to make money added afterwards.
Very fair model, while also being really.
