I was known as "Gamer Rocket" from 2014 to mid 2018. I then changed my name across my various online accounts to simply "Rocket".

Contrary to what might become popular belief, my name does not come from Rocket Raccoon despite my fondness for the character and the fact that Guardians was released in 2014. I actually came up with the username "Gamer Rocket" a couple of months before Guardians was released in theaters.

My name was coined when I was watching a youtube video. At this time I was thinking about starting a YouTube channel. I was thinking about what I would name my channel for a while. For a while I always thought about "Dustbomb" (I was 11 years old, bare with me here) which is a play on my real name Dustin. But even at that young age I knew the name could be a lot better.

I was watching some youtube videos on the game "Prison Architect" at this time. A YouTube channel I was watching had an animated intro of a rocket ship going to the moon. The channel owner himself was inside the rocket and was visible through a pothole window.

Seeing this got me thinking. I thought about having my own animated intro and what it would be. I then thought about "a rocket full of gamers" because I wanted to host a lets play channel at the time. My idea was the animated intro would show a rocket ship flying through space, maybe a controller as a decal, and a bunch of video game players inside of it. And of course, the name I decided on was "Gamer Rocket".

For a period I did actually host a lets play channel using this name. I also had that name on my steam account. But I eventually stopped taking my channel seriously, and no I never got an animation either lol. But I kept the name because I liked it. So for a good 4 years I just used the name Gamer Rocket because I liked it and it was a very unique name. No one else used it (Which helped a ton when signing up for various sites and accounts). I then decided to change it to simply "Rocket" in 2018.
