It's Slime Rancher but with better graphics and some new minor mechanics.
It really doesn't add much to the formula, and one of the thing that it adds isn't very good (resources).

One would expect the sequel of the game to add more freedom, more experimentation or something that would add to the gameplay, but as of today, it is almost as vanilla as it can be.

It may be a plus for some people, but for me it's more of a downer than anything, still it is an enjoyable game.

And adding on the materials thing, it is wrongly implemented, you just go farming predetermined spots of resources like its Runescape for minor changes on your equipment, and not even for something that we haven't experienced in the previous game, so the reward feeling is minimal. But worst even, is that if you focus on upgrading something of your equipment, but you can't find the resources because you already farmed them, you just have to wait until they respawn and that, added to the before mentioned, makes the whole mechanic not so enjoyable.

I would've loved something more sandbox oriented, a lot more of freedom, maybe even having to manually build the ranch, that's one of the ways I can see the gameplay loop not becoming so repetitive.
Or something more RPG, having slime bosses to unlock new areas, and equipment.
Even something metroidvania like, having more platforming and puzzles, and unlocking specific equipment to being able to pass those challenges by crafting it with slime rare drops that you get if your slimes are very happy.

Also an extra that could be easily fixed, is that gold becomes too abundant and you get no use for it because you full upgrade your ranch super fast. In this type of games usually the resource management of things and grinding hard but rewarding updates for the base is usually a core gameplay mechanic.

Still, it's on early access, it has been 14 of the 18 months they estimated for 1.0, the game isn't bad, and still has content to come, for that reason I give it a good review. Personally I feel this game as a "Meh".

Absurdly good.

When I think I'm getting the hang of a system in this game, there's always a way to make a more in depth version of it, a new loop, a cleaner version, and if you finally get the system you desired after hours (or even days) of engineering it, you have other aspects of the game to tackle that are equally or even more entertaining.

Apart from the logistics base building aspect, visually you can accomplish nice things, it lacks a lot of decorative and structural parts, but it maybe has a sufficient amount. I don't know if it would be possible, but this game would be much more entertaining with a build system like satisfactory, being able to clip things, to place freeform or make your own grids, or use the global grid, having a lot of wall types to create whatever structure you can imagine, etc.

Overall, the devs still are updating this game, and that for me is a plus, and even though I'm 80 hours in I feel like I still haven't experienced even half the content this game has to offer, I'm actually more engaged with this than I was with Space Engineers, so yes, give this game a try, but be prepared to have a the wiki, tutorials, and the Discord server at hand (they actually answer pretty quick when you ask for help).

An enjoyable and customizable house building game, with quite the content and a lot of potential to become one of my favorites house building games.
With the current content is one hell of an experience for players that enjoy freedom in construction and enjoys looking at their creation after hours of planning and work. The graphics are simple but the light, shadow, and normal maps makes the rooms you make really stand out and an absolute eye candy when you finish them.
It still doesn't have quite right the proportions of frustration and gratification (an extra more of frustration because of the bugs), but it's well on its way to become a good problem solving, resource management, building game.

You can play taking care of the dogs and having a wholesome time or try making a biblically accurate dog.

Literally unplayable, it crashes when you join a game. Ubisoft tells you to disable your antivirus, firewall, reinstall the game, create another account, all the sketchy fixes you can imagine, and doesn't solve the issue whatsoever.
