Honestly the game is fun enough, but the devs are more focused on making new op ships and events to get people to spend money than making the game more enjoyable. CVs frankly ruin the game as they are. Almost no counter-play and they dont have to risk themselves. Subs are only slightly better, but still are a pain to deal with. unlocking anything is a grind, and even with premium, money is hard to come by. in the end, it's pretty much pay to win at this point.

So, the plain and simple of it is, if you're going for a fun, creative, synergistic build, you arent going to get far. the only real viable build ive found so far is basically just maxing out damage and crit and building that direction. im sure theres a way to do otherwise, but the reroll and blacklist options are so limited and time-gated that it's not worth it. hundreds of THOUSANDS of credits to unlock everything, which equates to DAYS worth of playtime, and the magnet pickup only applies to exp.

as to the gameplay itself, it's fun, if a bit noisy. that being said, the game also does a lot to sabotage your fun. you get spammed with enemies before every boss to make you use up your skills and underbarrel beforehand. if you dont build some kind of AOE clear, you'll get mobbed and die, but AOE will do nothing for you against the final boss, who you have to kill upwards of 50 times to unlock all the upgrades for your gun. as for the final boss, if you neglect to build movespeed, or fail an absurd damage check, you'll just get ran down and die.

I tried to give it a fighting chance, and i enjoyed it to some extent, but in the end, i wish i could return it.

Aside from a steep initial learning curve (still better than DS3) this game probably gets closest tho the ideal open world adventure game (minus survival elements). the combat is fun, difficult, and rewarding, numerous play styles, and a wide variety of environments and enemies as well as unspoken interactions, rules, and synergies. HIGHLY recommend.

Needs Polish!

To start, it's a great game. survival is challenging, theres a lot of ways you can play, and it looks great, but out of everything, i have 1 major complaint: the combat needs work. For a game with as robust a selection in classes and skill combinations, the combat itself is jagged and frustrating. theres a lot of emphasis on preparing yourself for fights, which is important, but often feels like a crutch for how unwieldy the controls are. I may be spoiled by the refined nature of similar games like dark souls, but there lacks a level of fluidity i've come to expect. this isnt usually a problem against mobs, but when going up against bosses and enemies like manticores, the refinement is heavily needed.

overall, it's fun to play, but in my opinion, it needs some work.

this game will beat all 11 colors out of you and leave the mess for someone else to clean up. each enemy type has a unique timing sequence and much smaller windows compared to previous games.
get ready to get good.

legos meets asteroids in one of the most fun games i've played since modding minecraft. the concept is simple, but ship design becomes increasingly important as bigger and bigger ships show up. co-ordinate redundant structure, thrust vectors, energy generation, weapon recoil, movement, and resource alocation. create gimicky ships that shouldnt work but do!

this is literally 1 of 2 vr games that are better in vr than on a screen. this is a really fun game to have people watch you play in vr. kinda lackluster otherwise.
